Arizona Chickens

Just play a recording of a barking dog all day to mask the noise. They'll leave you alone.

LOL
Got that handled by the neighbors to the North. Lots of loud obnoxious dogs (my chicken coop is going completely opposite). South and East is street, only have West neighbor to worry about. And his pool and yard are between chickens and their house. Think I'm going to be okay!

Back in town... flew to SLC yesterday early, just got back.

One of my Golden Cuckoo Maran's layed the lightest brown egg I've ever seen from her. I'm going to have to see if she is OK in the morning.

The wedding was nice this morning, but it didn't get about 39 degrees up there.

Ah, there's no place like home...

I got the funnest present on Saturday..I got a call asking if I needed any more guinea hens....yuck I can't stand the guineas that I have..but this person has been checking out how well his eggs are hatching and I got about 20 Delaware Babies from him...the are Different than anything I have and I have wanted them for so long. They came from hatchery stock but the adults that this person has look good....I am hoping to have a nice big flock come spring. I have people asking for this kind of chicken all the time. I get excited over simple things...LOL

Pastrymama, sorry to hear about your hen. hope the clipping works.

NoSkiveez, I had to move the babies out to the swingset a few days ago, too dusty in the living room and too crowded in the box. The little peanuts are doing fine. I had to move the ducks to the big coop cuz they grow too fast, and moved Mahonri's chicks out with them because they were so much bigger. Didn't want the little peanuts getting trampled. I've got to say with all the horror stories I hear about chicks and hens, or different roosters, not getting along, that I'm impressed with how well everybody gets along.

Tofu, congrats on the new Delawares.

Dr Burke at Cornerstone Animal Hospital (or is it Clinic?) FANTASTIC vet. Has chickens of his own. Will see just about any animal (he sees my chickens and rabbit as needed), but I would call to verify about the goats, just in case.

Clean and disinfect the area and you shouldn't have a problem with the chicks getting the pox, unless you are still having mosquito or other biting bug problems. You do not need a vet to vaccinate; can do that yourself.

I will be there, all weekend, with my DS. He will be entering some of his chickens, as soon as he decides which ones.

Angie

Me, too, although I have a fairly good idea of what I'll take, just not sure how many.
