Arizona Chickens

Lost one of my 7 year old girls to the heat yesterday. I knew the day before she wasn't fairing too well so got her cooled down but just didn't last. She was one of my true Americaunas with beard, muff, blue eggs, colored legs and she was black. She laid and egg maybe once or twice a month. She was just too hot.

Sorry that you lost your older girl to the heat. At least you know that you gave her a good life. I take it then that you haven't moved to Florida yet, then?

It look's like some of my egg's that were due to hatch tomorrow, don't want to wait. One white Naked Neck is already out, and a blue egg is trying to make a jail break.

Even my bantams are starting to show combs now 😅 still limited feathers on them... think it’s still to early to sex any of them based off combs (everyone is only 3-5 weeks old) but... hope everyone is having a good day...View attachment 2127317View attachment 2127319View attachment 2127321View attachment 2127323View attachment 2127324
Hey there, what type of chicks are those sitting on the wood on the side of the coop? I just got 3 chicks, 2 are silkies, but one is not.. it looks like yours..

Very pretty birds. What about the two tiny black ones in pic 2 & 3, are those silkies?
The 2 tiny black ones are our bantam Cochins... the big black and white ones are Cuckoo Marans... after today’s sprinkles though it’s not looking good for my bantams though... 3 of the 4 are showing bright red combs coming in...

I only have 3 chicks, so I really hope 2/3 are female.. I am lucky I was even able to find these with everyone buying chicks for eggs (and theyll be mad when these BANTAMS lay eggs 🤣)

Look like mine did but mine had white butts and chests...
Cool!! Thanks for checking! I just peeked under mine and she has white in the belly/butt area, but more of a dark grey (but not black) chest. I'll see how it turns out over another week. I'm planning on having indoor house chickens, so when I realized it wasn't a silkie, I was worried it was a large bird breed that I wouldn't be able to keep inside.
