Arizona Chickens

OK, I have to set all of these eggs tomorrow at noon. My neighbor gave me 6 Beilefelder/NN eggs and 9 Welsh Harlequin duck eggs to add to mine. I'm pretty sure that some of these will be sold after they hatch in time for Easter. The female duck had a hidden nest and was sitting on over 20 eggs!
I can't wait to see what your babies look like once they are all hatched and floofy!!

He really is and he keeps me on a schedule! He wakes me before my alarm goes off, tells me that i'm taking too long to see the weather report on the news, tells me that i'm not getting out to the girls fast enough (We have him in my bedroom because like i said we're not supposed to have a rooster), tells me when it's treat time, then yells for me to bring everyone in (close the coops) for bed time so he can go to bed. Since obviously him being in the garage means that he has to be inside otherwise he has to sleep in there with the soda and washing machine. So sub standard for such a distinguished young man. 🤣
He seems to have you trained pretty well. :lau

He sure does! He was a "mistake" too. He adopted us. When we went to see the chicks, I had picked out three to go with our one that had survived the dog and he didn't want to be left behind. He kept trying to follow us. Almost 6 months later and now he is my alarm clock that I can pick up and carry around like a small dog. His legs go limp and everything once he's picked up. He's so dang curious too. As I sit here and talk to y'all when i can be on the computer he sits in my lap and watches me typing.

It is going to be like an advent calendar! Which candy (breed/color) are you going to get?!
Yes, and I had hatched the original batch of those Welsh Harlequin duck's for them before from shipped egg's. The ducks are free ranging in their fenced in yard with the 2 dogs that they have. Now I will be helping to try to hatch 9 more ducklings from those. Those ducks walk all over the yard and don't even fly. They eat the dogfood right alongside of the dogs. The neighbors don't even eat the egg's, and I told them they should think about selling them as hatching egg's if someone likes them. The breed is sexable at hatch too.

That would be such a great idea! I know that I was wanting a couple of ducklings but i don't want any males cause... I don't trust male ducks not to do no no things to my chickens LOL ya know? BUT everywhere I look the ducklings are all unsexed and you never know what you're going to get. I mean i could eat them but do i really want to? Plus they are sold as "assorted breed" so you don't even know what you're going to get.. I just wanted two little girls to cuddle and play with dang it.

I did the research on this breed of duck before the shipped egg's were ordered. Being able to sex them at hatch was what was the most attractive, plus they don't fly all over the place.

So ok, I didn't wait until 12 noon like I was suppose to. They are in. The ones with the black line's going around them are the ones that are Bielefelder/Naked Neck mixes. The big white ones in the back are the Welsh Harlequin duck egg's. The rest are my pure Bielefelder's from my flock.

Do you know if your neighbor would part with some of the ducklings? Cause the fact they don't fly all over the place makes them even mooore tempting!
