Arizona Chickens

Wow, an eggs day from a polish?? Impressive

Ya, they are small with a pinkish hue. She is so much sweeter now too! Bonus....hope they all sweeten up. We handle them all quite a bit (kids help with that) but the favarolle & lakenvelder are still a bit flighty.

What do you have in your flock?

Mostly Easter Egger mix's as for now.. 2barred rocks.. 1 Buff Orpington
Golden lakenvelder, buff brahma, BCM, De' ulce Millie Fluer.. I did spell
the last one wrong.. She is so beautiful her name is Clair.. Hope to have
some of you chicken folk over for roasted marshmallow's by the fire..
I like visiting to see how other flocks are living.. I get ideas from the coop
Fourm as well..

Today someone had messed the nest box up a lot, I'm hoping it was Onyxia. One of the balls I had in it was pushed way into the corner and buried. I've seen little bits of bedding kicked out the past couple weeks but this looked like someone was actually IN the box at some point today.

Maybe tomorrow.....

I'm glad to hear you're feeling better! Sounds like everything is falling into line for you, improving health, kids on fall break with actual fall weather and an impending fire. I wish I could join you.

Yeah it could be the wine? I went to traders Joes. The wine expert said
"I think you will like this" on the 2ND bottle.. Do not trust them.. Really
2ND glass.. my dearest friend is popping on over to help me with my problem..
" of not wanting to waist the bottle" I like SMOOTH semi-sweet with a good
smell, is that to much to ask for?? It could be that I am not feeling %100?

I don't mind them kicking the bedding out so much, I'm just waiting for that first egg... I like seeing that someone disturbed it so I know there's interest in the boxes so they are getting close to laying. I'm using up the rest of the pine shavings from their brooder boxes in the nest boxes then I'll probably switch to straw when it's gone.

Ahhh! Rain check... We all have been under the weather..
I was just talking to a client this week about aravipa. In stafford
this last week.. We were thinking of Wet Beaver Creek 3 1/2 miles
in... I am still on antibiotics & very weak.. Hope to recover I time for
our block party SAT OCTOBER 26 TH 5pm till....?
So all you chicken folk put that on your calendar... We will post up another
invite closer to that date..
HAPPY BIRTHDAY....

Aravaipa is awesome! I've hiked it in from both ends and I have always camped at Horse Camp Canyon. It's about 5-1/2miles in and absolutely gorgeous. I've found the best time to be there is in September when the water is still warm enough to hang out in. It's BLM land and requires reservations. They only allow X amount of people in there at any given time. I haven't been in years. The last time I went was when my wife and I were engaged. I dragged her in there with some other friends. Great trip back in 1999.

Thanks for the birthday wishes! I just packed my light pack. I'm testing out a new Outdoor Research bivy sack, super light ThermaRest pad and a Marmot 30˚ bag. All 3 of those items weigh under 5#. Plus I tossed in some long chonies and a fleece jacket, my tiny Snow Peak stove, first aid and some Makers Mark and a Macanudo Portofino.
