Arizona Chickens

Unfortunately, about 8 years ago, I sold my house in Diamond Bell Ranch, and bought a mobile home in Marana, about 40 miles closer to work. With the downsizing, I had to sell more than half my rifles. I once had one of the finest Mauser collections in the state, but when the sell off happened, it was some of the finest examples that went first. I believe some of the finest Mausers made were the pre-WW1 South American models. I still have some left that are pretty rare editions, but I wish I had the room so I didn't have to sell so many.

This is my gun room/laundry room.

Carnivore, does the humidity in your laundry room pose a problem with your guns? My husband has his reloading set up pretty far from the laundry room. I never really thought about it too much until just now.

Nope, I use a special homemade oil blend called Ed's Red, that contains a lot of lanolin. I only have to re-oil the guns about once every six months.

I use Lanolin on dogs for any skin irritations. I use Boiled Linseed Oil in my metal shop a lot, that any good for guns? Btw do y'all ever sell/barter guns? I will be looking for some farely soon I hope.

The boiled linseed oil can be used on wood stocks, but it is a PITA. A lot of it sold for stocks has driers added, which can ease the pain somewhat. For metal I usually parkerize or paint with DuraCoat, the various bluing methods are slower, more work intensive, and don't protect the metal as well. Hopefully, I will never sell another rifle. Do a web search for Ed's Red for the formula, which is easy to make with common ingredients, be sure to use the lanolin (optional), but the lanolin really helps with long term rust protection.

The baby quail needs companions to survive. Look up wildlife rahabilitation , maybe there is somebody near you. I used to transport for "Wildthings" years ago, and the lady who ran the place told me the number one thing that killed off baby quail was being solo. Also, people would wait too long to get them to a rehaber.
Baby quail sure are cute though. I would be sorely tempted to keep it.

LIFE IS GOOD, AND GETTING BETTER...
. I am currently negotiating for a larger property in Avra Valley. A calf or two might be in my future!
Wherabouts in Avra Valley? There are several properties available around me, which are zoned Rural Homestead, which is even better than "Suburban Ranch"

Oh MY Gosh. Some of the chickens coops I see on here...I would like to move in ! Lol.
My girls would bethe poor relations, I guess. They roost in a converted play house that my mom found at a yard sale. Bless her soul, my mom was resourceful. That playhouse was used for my kids and when she passed away,I drug it home and my grandkids played in it. Then I found a newer playhouse (at a yard sale), and the old one was repurposed as a chicken coup. I put it up on cinderblocks and a wooden pallet, with a wire floor. I ran a light to it when the chicks were still little. My grandkids think its great that the chickens live in their old house.
