Arizona Chickens

Just checking in as requested :) I won't repeat what I just wrote in the Introductions subforum, except to say my wife and I have layers, broilers, guinea fowl, and turkeys out here in Tonopah. We have found a few tricks to keep the poultry happy (and alive) during the horrible heat we have been having - didn't loose any this year to the heat!

LOL! Yeah...mine tend to develop an affinity for golf balls when they turn broody. I'm not quite sure what they think they'll hatch? Maybe a nice green lawn? :D
Oh you two are funny!!:lau :goodpost:

Hello! Does anyone have Buff Orpington or any Orpington chicks or pullets planned anytime between now

I can't help you with the Buff Orpingtons but am wondering if you ever sell your eggs.  I'm in Montana at the moment but we're snowbirds and live in Mesa during the winter.  I would love to be able to purchase eggs from someone rather than buy them from the store.  I also miss seeing chickens when I'm in AZ and would count it as a plus if when I could see yours when I buy eggs (if you have any to sell).

I'm not sure I would buy another Buff Orpington myself.  I have one and she's 8 months old.  So far her face and comb are not even red yet.  She has never shown any interest in the nesting boxes.  Her pink comb is getting a little darker now so hopefully she lays before we leave here in November.

Oh we do hope to have you join I. Tommorw !!!??? I'm sure someone could bring you some farm fresh egg's?? We have the clones from @Sill
That should be ready any day now!! Pop:frow on over for a cup of tea in the garden..

I've got some pullets that are starting to get red in the face but no eggs so far.

My purebred BCM girl is very red. Is this a trait of this breed? She's a few weeks older than the other pullets but at the same age they were no where near as red. She is from @desertmarcy stock, so is from show lines. Maybe they color up better?
