@BlueBaby I just looked because I couldn't remember - we are zone a - southern stuff. I start mine in March with the automatic ship until October.
@meetthebubus I try to grow most of my own - easy peasy in a pot or in the ground. Remember the mint. 3 years growing in a giant pot- never touched by chickens so I planted it in the chicken yard. Those critters stripped the leaves off the stems - didn't eat them - just dropped them down on the ground! I think it will live just fine. My basil is starting to bloom and I generally save the seed. I'm going to drop some in the mint bed. So I'll have basil and mint. Both are not liked by chickens - hahahaha! I've had the same tire full of basil for about 3 years or so.
@Michelle Guynn Welcome back - tent idea is okay - messy and I'd worry about the build up of heat. What about a small coop surrounded by shade cloth like a garden spot? I'm assuming its a HOA/neighbor problem that you are trying to hide the chooks but gardens are usually okay.
@DesertChic still sending positive thoughts your way. Did you go to the Arbico store? I keep saying I'm going to do that as its located in Tucson but I just never seem to have the stamina for doing that and visiting my sister by another mother and Costco! Hang in there I'm thinking of you.
BTW - I have a oncologist appointment at 1pm - I get results of my PET scan. I'm always anxious as this will tell if there is another tumor or not. I'm hoping for no tumor. AND I'm hoping to be able to go off the ugly medicine as its been 18 months without tumors. I'd appreciate good chicken thoughts to keep my anxiety under control. Thanks.
