Arizona Chickens

@meetthebubus these storms make me nervous, you just never know what you're going to get. Could be nice rain with a breeze, could be mass destruction and devastation! I always worry that the door to the coop will somehow blow open, but I forget how much the wood swells and expands in the humidity. I can barely open it after a good rain. It's just so hard not to worry about them out there during monsoon season! I can bring the dogs in, but not ten chickens.
Talking of bringing them in reminds me....
You know another post on BYC told of someone having to escape wildfires and leave their chickens behind it made me a bit sad and thoughtful on what I would do right now if I had no plans to but needed an escape

I ask my hubby and he says if need be we put all 27 in the backseat of the truck and the dog in the very back outside and leave lol he's all no ones left behind ;)
I'm trying to imagine them all in the back... guava would probably jump on the drivers shoulder... lol

Those pet crates would be good for that. We have a couple extra plastic ones, plus a couple of the large wire dog crates too that can be folded up if not in use for storage, plus a couple of cat crates that can be used for chicks.

My phone just went off, look like something is coming from the southwest. I also have some clouds coming up over the mountain to the north, if these storms collide it will be a mess.
@meetthebubus @BlueBaby I would use the big dog crate (currently chicken jail) for a quick escape too! We would have to do chickens in my truck and dogs in my husband's truck. I can't think of a single other thing I would take if we were in that situation...grab the animals and GO!
