Arizona Chickens

Let me know if you cant get it fixed today, normal issue is air restriction. Check the filter and the area around the coils that froze over. If you have a trailer style A/C then check the Triangle for fur/dirt or if the insulation on the sides moves. Ive seen a few where the insulation was stuck to one side and it would freeze over.

Well guess it would have been better had I noticed that I was missing the last page of posts LOL. Glad to hear you got it going again. So the blower motor went out ?

They got it fixed before the sun went down last night. It was the motor, and they replaced it with a new one. The unit is 14 years old, so I guess that the old motor had a good life.

@SonoranChick How's your flock and the bumblefoot going, plus how was the Drs appointment?

Whew I feel like I've been really busy the past few days...just now catching up! I still have the Wyandotte in a foot wrap, I will clean and change it tomorrow with a new wrap, and then I think a few days after that she will be good to go. Her infection was really deep so I hope I got it all out. The scab is still healing but the swelling is down, so that's a good sign. I still have several infected feet to work on but I'm just doing one at a time now. Slowly, but surely getting rid of the infections.
The doctor appointment was good, thanks for asking  The glucose test came back and I do not have gestational diabetes! And baby girl is measuring right on track with a strong heartbeat. So, all good news! I just can't believe she will be here so soon. I feel like November 5th is just around the corner.

This morning there was quite a fiasco. The dogs were in the garden and I was cleaning the poop boards. I turned around and the Delaware had popped right out of the coop (the door was open ajar) and started walking around the garden. Then everything went slow motion. I tried calling for Blue but she got spooked and started running from me, which of course caught the dogs' attention. Next thing I know the mastiff has Blue in her mouth  The other two dogs come running. I grabbed the mastiff and she let go of Blue, who ran back to the coop. I was able to slam the coop door before the dogs could get in. Blue doesn't have a scratch on her, and now the dogs are NOT ALLOWED IN THE GARDEN!!! That could have ended up being so much worse. Lesson learned.

Oh that's so scary! So glad all is ok I bet Blue regrets her exploration today

Ok arizonians truth time how often do you really clean those chicken Water containers? :gig

Seems like every time I have to fill them they are filthy with stuck on dirt and theyvare the small ones!

Anyhow how often do you find yourself scrubbing them out, I need a scrubby yo get the dirt out and some elbow grease anyone else?

@SonoranChick - wow - November is just around the corner. Was at TSC - BTW they have some great sales on short-sleeved men's and sleeveless women's tops/shirts - at least here and the woman looking at the rack was saying she was shopping for Christmas! Haven't done that in a while.
@meetthebubus I clean my waters every day in the summer and every other day in the winter months. AND boy are they dirty right now too - there is enough mud in them to start another garden. I also give them a scrub brush scrub once or twice a week in the summer. Generally except for mud they don't get horrid dirty.
Today I saw a second poop with round worms. The first one was last week'ish. And I have two girls I've been watching thinking it was the heat bothering them. Well I think we have round worms so got my Wazine and a plan to start tonight with the water thing. One day's worth of meds only so tomorrow night or the next morning I'll be changing water again to probiotic/electrolyte water. I got my little garden spade ready. Even if those are the only two it won't hurt the have the others wormed, etc. Cooler weather will be helpful then I can use ACV more regular. I don't use it when it is hot, hot.
AND at the store I got them some extra spinach since it has so much vitamins, etc in it and they really, really love it. I think it was you @meetthebubus who said when you add a bunch to your flock you have some many other things happen.
PLUS - and the gods only know what happened here. One of my black naked necked girls is missing. They can't get out generally so I have absolutely no idea. We do have a nest of golden eagles within a mile or so of us but I don't have much room for a swoop in to grab and she was a good sized girl. Really I just don't know what happened!
