Arizona Chickens

You are so sweet to offer your sloggers! Unfortunately I'm afraid they wouldn't fit, as I am a size 6. But with how much my feet are swelling up my normal shoes have been pretty tight :gig can you guys tell I'm ready to not be pregnant anymore lol

We have the same size shoe! I don't like the narrow width shoes, because I like my feet to have room to breathe!

Yes these last weeks are quite uncomfortable! Luckily we are pretty much ready to go (as ready as we possibly can be, anyway)...now it's just a waiting game. I wake up everyday and wonder, "is today going to be her birthday?"
In chicken news, the rain has brought out the ANTS, and they're inside the run stealing food that has fallen to the ground. I followed their trail and we put poison down outside the yard where their hole was located. I killed about 300 of them with my feet. But I know they'll be back tomorrow! Soon enough it will be just too cold for ants, right? I don't remember having issues with them through the winter months.

She will be born soon enough. Then the new born baby work will begin for you... feeding, burping, rocking, changing diaper's.

Yes, I had ant's here again after the rain, too! This time it was the smaller one's. They were even in my chicks grow out pens. I had to pour hot boiled water on the ants in there. I ran out of the garden and poultry dust, and couldn't just let them stay there.

It still is looking like my chickens have been having a feather pillow fight in the coop. I wish they would get done with that and get back to laying eggs good again.

Yes, they will be gone soon, I use DE food grade on them and they leave instantly until the de is gone or gets wet

I have DE but it's not food grade. Maybe I'll use it outside the coop where I see the ant trail.
@BlueBaby my run looks like a pillow fight too! And some of the girls look like porcupines with their new feathers just starting. It has really lowered my egg supply, but that's ok.

I know what you mean about the egg supply being way lower, but I also have quite a few pullets here that have been growing out & haven't even layed their first egg yet!

I have 200 eggs from these past 1 and a half weeks... My eggers are slowing down a bit but no molting, the buffs are done shedding, haven't shed many feathers and they are mostly grown in, so much so I'm getting eggs from the buff orps again yesterday i got a dozen i usually get a dozen a day

You have way more hen's than I do right now. Most of mine are still pullets that have yet to start laying. I'm still waiting for those one's to start up.

I’m not sure. I think it’s a gene. I know you can’t breed a frizzle to a frizzle because you could get a frazzle which has very painful brittle feathers. I’m going to put him with Emma and if one of the splash is a pullet and see what I get.

Hazel has laid an egg 3 days in a row. She is so social and just wants to be with me. I gave them grapes today.

I so want to put a few of her eggs in the incubator. But hubby would not be happy. I don’t think 9 chickens is a lot. According to chicken math that is only 2 right? Lol
