I saw that on the news. Some folks are just careless with their dogs.

Well, I've reduced my flock now so that I'm to the point I won't be getting many eggs for some months now.
I've put all of the 16 week old pullets in with the few remaining older birds.... I hope they survive. And without the NOISY leghorn roo, things should quiet down a bit.
I gave away another 3 hens and 2 roos last night. That leaves me with 12 chicks... 11 Ameraucanas (9 BBS & 2 W/BW ) and 1 Salmon Fav that are 7 weeks old in the grower pen and then in the big coop I have 16.
1 Blue Ameraucana Roo
1 Blue Ameraucana Hen (9 months old and no eggs yet!)
1 GC Maran roo
1 GC Maran pullet
4 Wheaten/Blue Wheaten pullets
2 CA white Leghorn pullets
1 Speckled Sussex pullet
and then my remaining layers
1 EE hen
2 Black stars (1 hen/1 pullet)
1 Partridge Rock hen
1 RIR hen
So, I'm down to 28 total (from a high in April of 43!) and we figure at least 5 of the 12 chicks are roos that we'll need to rehome so that would put me down to 23 and my kids are complaining now that we won't be getting enough eggs so perhaps we'll head out to Vanessas and get a couple of Cinnamon Queens just to up our egg production this fall.
DW gets back from up north tomorrow afternoon and one section of the yard will be chicken free.. I hope that pleases her.
And then it will start over again in January as I hope to have enough fertile Ameraucana eggs to start hatching out my own eggs.
