It is a small clover ground cover, drought tolerant, sprouts within 7 days, and if you scroll through the comments wayyyy down at the bottom, there are a couple who mentioned using it w their chickens.. might be good to try for your ducks and chickens who need a green space (and pups and kids).

I ordered some to use as a filler between my cobblestone pavers.. i kind of like that they aren't filled permanently since it helps the water move along when we do have downpours. I need it filled w something though, otherwise leaves and weeds get stuck in the crevices. Hopefully this will do the trick! I'll take some pics to share!

Good morning AZ. Got myself a golf cart last weekend for running up to the store when I need to get more than what I can carry in my backpack. Having fun with that right now! Hubs is using my car because his is at the fix or get rid of it before it dies stage. I need to get a black liner for the floor board though, when the sun hits the metal it’s blinding! Got three ducklings in last week but they didn’t make it so have three more coming next week. Decided to go with white layers instead of more Runners though. Just for variety. We got some decent rain yesterday afternoon but managed to get some chores done before it arrived. Our city moved our bulk trash schedule up by two weeks this year which is awesome! Next weekend I’ll be moving it all out to the street. I got a chip drop toward the end of summer and that has really helped with dust and no lakes in the yard after the recent storms. We’re playing Russian roulette with the garden right now, it’s still not enclosed and the ducks are going to go after it I know it. Definitely gotta figure that out. Back to work for me, trying to get the house cleaned up since hubs is working today. Have a good day everyone!

Nice cart. Sad about your 3 duck’s & yeah all the flock loves to eat greens. In their run I put hardwire cloth & this fencing. Elderberry is in the fencing & sugar cane is in the hardwire cloth. The do leave the elderberry alone, but love the sugarcane. When I pull off the blades on the sugarcane I cut it up small for them. The 3rd plant that they don’t eat is a Arabian Lilac. It turns a dark purple, gives lots of shade & grows fast.

That is a pretty ground cover. Let us know if it makes it through the heat.

I've been trying to find a ground cover that would choke out the puncture vine, I wonder if the miniclover would do that?

It says it will force out existing weeds and prevent new ones digging out weeds from 1/2 " gaps is not fun, so i hope it works!! I ordered some last night, i hope it does the trick!

The only greens growing here right now are mint, Greek oregano, and rosemary. It looks like that cold weather did some damage to the oregano. Will feeding herbs or certain plants to chickens change the way their eggs taste?

Several hours ago I checked the coop and there was a nice still warm egg in the nest box and Henrietta was singing her egg song. She lays pretty much every day, she only skipped the day we had that snowstorm. Then a few minutes ago I went to the coop and found a second, smaller egg, but it was cold. Somebody else is laying! Lacey is my prime suspect, since she is the second largest/oldest after Henrietta.

Also, I noticed something. Henrietta started laying at the same time her comb flopped over to the side like leghorn pullet/hen combs are supposed to do. Lacey's is now flopping over, and it looks like she's beginning to lay. The two growing-up events must happen around the same time. Whisper's comb is starting to nod off to the side. Maybe she's next.

It looks like I get to scratch a dozen eggs off the weekly grocery list. And it looks like they both like to use the same nest box.

Im planning on enclosing a 4×10 area, about 5' high. It will be a raised garden bed w dirt and veggies growing. Will that work? Ill have a section of grains like millet that they can eat/hide in. But im hoping their poop is just safe enough to leave, and then turn the soil in between plantings.

Yes that sounds pretty good. Just be aware they will eat you veggies so you’ll need to protect them until they are large enough the quail can’t eat all the leaves. They kept my tomatoes bug free and happy!

I looked up the Arabian lilac, lovely! I think I need one of those as a small tree in the yard and I love the fact that it grows fast. I’m just not sure where I’d put it. I’ll have to think about that.

The kids got multiple rides in the golf cart today. Hubs cleaned the windshield for me and checked all the tires. It’s fun to run around in.

It loves full sun so thing of planting in the West part of your yard. It does grow wonky or arts as I call it so don’t prune until it’s about 4-5 feet tall. Wonky as in weeping a bit, not a straight upright main branches. This 1 is in the front yard, the one in the chickens run is smaller and have not started to prune. I might not because they will start to roost up in it, which is not a bad thing but it could be.
