Arizona Chickens

That is too bad. Mine like them are pretty good layers. Not as mild mannered as the NNs.

These lay egg's good too, but I don't need a mean girl in there stressing out the other's. She not only think's that she own's all of the feed station's, but the coop and all of the nest boxes and area's belong to her also. I'm tired of having to collect the poor pullet girl's egg's from all over the chicken run because she won't let them lay the egg in the coop.

Where you are I'm sure the coyotes check every night! I know that they do here. They do not touch the electric fence, but I do not want them to learn to come here for their meals!

I went out there to lock up a bit ago and watched. The flock seems to be more calm and peaceful since she got booted out.

So a friend of mine just dropped off a batch of six chicks that was given to them by someone who didn’t do enough research before purchasing them :hmm I felt terrible for them so I decided to take them in since I already have the supplies from raising our girls last year. I just noticed that one of the chicks has a toe (or is it considered a claw?) that looks broken and lays sideways when she walks. Is there a way to help it get straightened or will it not heal? I’d hate for her to die so soon or be in any pain. I’ll try to get a picture of it once I get their area prepared with food and water.

Yes, a picture would help. Does it look infected?

It doesn’t look infected from what I can tell and I noticed that the other foot has a toe that goes a bit sideways as well but it’s not as bad, apparently the area they were held was lined with a sort of chicken wire so their little feet would hang out from the bottom of the empty spaces. I’m thinking maybe that’s what’s responsible for causing her feet to be crooked. Attached is the best photo I could take since they squirm quite a bit.

It look's like what they call a curled toe, and it could have happen at hatch. If it was, they didn't take care of it by putting a chick boot/shoe on it.

This will show you what to do:
