That's why my goal is a dual-purpose flock. They all contribute in some way.

That colorful cockerel's mother was a Double Blue Laced Barnevelder. Those hen's had the darker brown egg's in my flock at the time. I typically was hatching the egg's by what color that the hen's were laying, so I knew what breed the mother's were.

I didn't want to be left out of the violent weather. Even 1,800 miles east, storms are raging. That area is 40 miles west of me, and all the weather from there eventually arrives by me in the weather pattern travel direction.

It did not affect us, 2 days ago. Traveled past us with no incidents.
Yesterday got some violent thunderstorms in the afternoon, that arrived instantly. Accompanied by strong winds, but not tornado strength. Knocked over some of my potted planters. A few branches also made trip toward the ground.
From the time sprinkles started, and progressed to downpour, I went to get my dog from backyard, I was very much soaked.

It's black outside and thundering. Teddy is being a velcro dog because he is afraid of thunder. I'd better go feed the feral cats before it starts raining.

It is here now. Black & Thunder& lightning, lots of rain. So far not as bad as yesterday.

Look what arrived today! A mug with roosters with dark spots on a light background (sort of like cuckoo?) and those old Big Ben style alarm clocks. Woo-hoo! I'm drinking pumpkin iced tea.

BlueBaby saw it on Craigslist and sent me a link to the ad, but it was in Phoenix. Later in the day I thought about it, then asked the person with the mug if she would mail it if I paid her for the postage. I told her why I liked it, and amazingly, she said yes and sent it! Enjoying the new Big Ben mug.

Good thing it wasn't a tornado. I wouldn't want your flock to go flying in one of those!
