Arizona Chickens

I think the Kebonnix were rated really well, even holding temperature steadier than the nurture right 360.
The NR 360 that I bought work's really well, and I had no problem's with it. Maybe the one that I got wasn't from the manufacturer trying to train in a newbie employee?

I have followed 2 different threads about the NR360.. When it first came out,,, there were some issues with chicks getting scalped. That got corrected for those with older models,, and newer models came scalp proof.
The current models are quite good,, and seem to be a preference by many hatchaholicks on threads here. BYC.
Posting a link to a live stream of hatching from one of the Illinois members. Its in a NR 360

Ok, thanks' for mentioning that! I must have bought one of the newer one's then, because the reason why I bought it was because so many were saying good thing's about it.

Well I hope everyone was prepared to ignore today's weather forecast. We were forecast 96 and it beat that by around 10 am, it's now 102. Plenty of ice and misters and puddles.
It's that time of the year where you can label the temperatures as being hotter instead of just hot daily. My thermometer on the wall for the inside/outside temp is currently saying it's 112-F. outside. Mister's and ice are out here for mine also.

I bought a 25 pack of new egg cartons that I got today, and already put all of my label's on them.

Well, the increase in crime has reached us. Yesterday someone cut open our chain link fence and stole a bunch of stuff from our property. They did this around 1-2:00 PM, in the hottest part of the day, so apparently the heat is no longer a deterrent. I hate to think what they would have done if we had had the coop set up and chickens in it.

We filed a police report, repaired the fence, and moved as much of the remaining items indoors as we could (into what was my office.... sigh... we don't have a garage). Ordered cameras, motion-sensor lights, and signs.

For now I'm sleeping, armed, in the backyard. Never thought it would come to this but here we are. Be safe, everyone.

How far south are you? Did you figure out what they took? I'm so sorry this happened to you - and thanks for warning us all!

Ugh. With the "border" being so wide open, this had to happen sooner or later. Be careful! You can replace stuff, you can't replace You.

We're less than an hour from the border, too close for my tastes. We know what they took, we gave a list to the police in our report. It was stuff you'd keep in a garage: tools, a shop vac, car stuff, fuel cannisters, fishing gear, gardening/lawn stuff, etc. I guess we'll be buying a lockable shed later. I need to be able to use my office again at some point.

A local man who pulls a cart around and digs aluminum cans out of the trash told my roommate that he saw two men he didn't recognize hanging out in the alley where our fence was cut earlier that day. We gave their description to the police. We don't expect to get any resolution but I know it's important to report it for crime statistics and department budgets and so on. We have a good police department but they can't be everywhere.

I'm so angry, what do you do with the anger about something like this? I keep looking at everyone I see: are the one of the guys who took our stuff? Why did you take it? Why did you choose us? How can you live with yourself?
