Arizona Chickens

I just got back in the house. It's already 107-F. out there so made sure that the mister's were on and the water container's were all on full. Going to have to take more ice out there. I hope that all of this heat in the valley will push enough of it up the mountain's (as heat rises), so that it will bring more rain. I need it to push some rain back down here to me.

Ugh. It's 94 here and the dew point here is 53 and will get higher so my misters will be out of commission for a while.

Tested the solar generator for the power outage TODAY - outage was less than an hour but estimates said it wouldn't be on until about 6 pm tonite. I had to move a lot o' stuff around just to plug in a few fans and I really needed a radio to keep the dogs from hearing thunder. All our music is plugged in thru walls - no way to find the plugs easily. So as I moved everything around there were so many dust bunnies I moved & cleaned behind the couch and took rugs outside and beat them like they do in cartoons.

Just last week I asked my DH if I could just plug the regular A/C into the solar generator- he said no its 220, but I could use the little portable. So if you don't know what you can or can't plug in during an outage now is the time to ask someone. I didn't use the portable AC this time but at least I knew I could.

At least you know that it's working, and you got rid of your dust bunnies too as you have to do that from time to time.

You need a food grade one. If you happen to stop by one of those Firehouse Sub's, they sell those empty pickle bucket's for $3.00 each and they have the lid's.
Picked up one of their buckets today! Yay! Thanks for the suggestion!

Bakeries also get things in large quantity in such 5 gallon containers. I think they usually throw out theirs because of contents, like butter, Chocolate, or cheese, or Fruit preserves. More work to clean out and try to resell,,, so they go into the trash.
I know asking kindly for such from bakery would also be an option.

I buy mine from the Firehouse Sub's, because I feel like it help's the fire dept.'s when they have to go put out those wild fire's that other places in AZ. have.

Edit: Those bucket's from there also will hold 25-pound's of the chick feed that I get.
