Arizona Chickens

30 days from now??

Would it be best to separate these two?

That can be done for sure.

OHH and quite a few places recommend Ivermectin for the mites. They explain doing drops for the chickens do they mean direct drops in the mouth?? I assume no.

How do you guys give ivermectin to your birds if you do that at all? I see a ton of different ways from in the water to rubbed under their wings. Whats the best that you have found?

Well, I know I am a desert rat and all, but it gets freakin' cold in our northern parts. Okay, so it isn't Alaska, but cold is just cold.

Anything under 71* right?

Thats what I said. When my son (who can be very dramatic) said "Ma there's a snake in here!" I thought he was full of it until I saw it and then we had a hell of a time getting it out of there with one seriously stressed rooster.

Shaun, sorry I don't have anything to offer on scaly leg mites. I check my chickens all the time for them, but haven't experienced them. Don't know how to treat them.

I'm gonna clean up the kitchen and go to bed now.

Night night AZ chicken folks! Sweet chicken dreams!

My dad is a herpetologist so i was really used to snakes and lizards when i was little.

I still remember the day I was with him at work when someone accidentally dropped or mishandled a bag full of cottonmouths and dad put me on a table and told me not to get down while i watched these guys all round up these not so happy snakes. Ahh childhood...

Shaun

We have alot more snakes out here than I enjoy seeing. We get alot of nasty snakes. We dont like to kill them unless they pose a threat to us. The coop invader when in a tool box and then for a ride to the other side of town and let out in the desert over there. We had a Bull Snake in our irrigation channel a few weeks ago (oddly again it was my son who stumbled on that one while we were going some yard work).
