Shaun - I looked at the pics of the Ameraucana/EEs. I can't believe how much your light colored pullet looks like my Wheaten/Blue Wheaten pullets. I'll have to take some pics and post them - she'll be beautiful. Do you still have the red/white one? The blue/brown one does look male - I'm not 100%, but that's what I'd guess. The coloring is looking much more rooish, the comb is dark (although smaller than I would expect), and maybe? I see hackle feathers starting. I hate to say keep waiting, but you should know real soon. Is that the one that was making the noises? You probably already know, but the BR and BO are still definitely pullets. I can't tell with silkies, but maybe someone else can.

Referring back to our conversation earlier; Here's an example of the hackle and sickle feathers that will show up on a roo, plus the larger, dark comb - this EE is about the age of the ones you got from me (it's 11-13 weeks of age in this pic -according to an older post, OP got them as little chicks in mid-march)

I'll PM you a local breeder who has Barnevelders and other dark layers about all year long. I would skip the eggs and replace hers with chicks if shes had them for a while?
CRAP. I totally lost her name and number.

I received it from a user on the AZ thread a while back...hopefully someone can chime in. She might have eggs too.

Well let me know if you can find it.

OHH how many of the button quail did you want again? I was starting to separate out a good group for you but wasn't sure if you were thinking like 1 male 2 female? that seems to work quite well! Let me know.

Anyone else want any? I have a few that keep trying to bo broody so i am sure i can have some babies so willing to get rid of more than i was at first. I can take pictures if anyone is interested.

Nice chicken pictures....I do think that one is a pullet.....I was thinking about it on the whole ride home and kept going back to pullet

Big momma is the best picture and she really does have a great name

Mahonri: I hope you decide to stay, but if you need a break, we'll be waiting when you get back.

Joel: Congrats on the eggs!

smajacob: If you want chicks, I'm getting some to put under my broody, as I'm starting to worry that this hatch is going to be a bust. I looked around, and the best deal by far was the 25 chick special from MPC, so I'm gonna have more chicks than I need, and would need to rehome some pretty quick. They should arrive on the 15th or 16th, and all will be sexed pullets.

Sorry, but you might have to hold onto them for a while. I need to figure out my RIR and my trip is on the 9th. I just found out that my red eye flight was changed to the 17th landing in AZ at 5:30am. I also have to appear in court the same day at 7:30am as a witness. When I get back home I have a huge list of "I can't do it till the trip is over" thingers.

I'm going to die.

If there is anyone else wanting in on them it's totally fine! I still need to figure out how to section off some of the yard. How are they fairing in the heat anyway?

If my wife gets this new job she may have gotten I am going to try and get someone out here that is a metal guy to help me build a lot of things. Need a metal and fence guy. Laree your DH is on the top of my list to call when i know i can possibly afford it lol.

Shaun - I can't believe how much your mixed Ameraucana pullets (1/2 blue Wheaten) look my purebred Wheatens/blue Wheatens. Take a look at mine:

I hope I'm wrong, but your blue does look like a roo to me, but a late bloomer - look at my little 6-7 week old brahma - he also has a pea comb and it is obvious early on.

I often wondered what happened to some of my favorite posters. Southern28chick, pickles pickles, Mayberry Saint, DL Unicorn and a whole host of other good posters. Some suddenly just went silent.
