The only thing I didn't like about my Kyle Coop is that he used chipboard, and it's flaking apart and warping already despite the 2 coats of exterior paint I used.

We had the same problem with our Kyle Coop. The roof was warping after just one rain. Also with the chipboard, lots of rain came through the back wall. So we had to re-nail sections down and then we put shingle paper down and shingles and painted the sides with exterior paint (even though I paid for it to be painted). Now it is all good, water tight, no more warping. Still it's a great coop, just wish he had not used chipboard.

Maybe he would make it with better wood if you offered to pay more for it?
It also helps to put a roof on it. My sister found a couple pieces of corrugated stuff on Craigslist for cheap.

Mahonri, that broody is so, so cute. Still no new chicks for me, whenever I've had time to go to the Mesa Feed Barn, they've been sold out.

Turkeybreeder - It might be cheaper to just go get them at a local PetCo. If you only want to start with 500 or 1000, which is plenty it you are patient, it should be cheaper to buy them in person. Buy the large size.

Now I want tamales

I went to my local "Mom & Pop" pet shop here & they ordered worms for me. I got their rates AND I didn't get charged shipping. I got 1000 for $13 & change I believe. There was all forms of worm in there, including several beetles. I was super stoked

BUT I think DH killed them all off last night by leaving them outside (it got down to 35 @ our house)...

They do best in slightly-warmer-than-humanly-comfortable temps, in my experience.

TT! :

Are there any vegetarians in this thread? I thought I read ages ago there was someone else.

Even my 3 year old is a vegetarian

I am a vegetablarian. I'm not completely vegan. I don't eat eggs or meat but i do eat milk, cheese, dairy. And I will cook with eggs. I also eat fish. Salmon only. And I will eat steak (ribeye only) once every 6 months. I guess I'm An odd type of vegetablarian.

AZDreamer - it was good to see you today. I hope the chicks do well. I sent my aunt eggs on Monday. I'm going to see if I can send her another box of eggs in a few weeks. I'm hoping to find a variety to send next time too.
