Well, my children are learning about death very rapidly these days.
First, we got some bantams & the kids loved loved them. Then the next morning one was dead, then that afternoon another one died.
Then, I lost two of my pullets the other day. We moved & have had the chicks (8 weeks old) back in the brooder for transport purposes. DH was "supposed" to build coop for my little chickies 2 weekends in a row...did you all get that
supposed to part? Yeah well, our awning failed us because of the ridiculous hurricane winds we get here and 2 of the pullets died. One other one was almost dead & I sat in the car with the AC on for about an hour to cool her off, then I gave her a cool shower & some wet crumbles.
My oldest daughter was super crazy sad when she got home & saw her favorite chicken was dead. DH wasn't too happy that 'his' chick was gone too.
Needless to say, I got a 'mini-coop' that very night.
Last night, my oldest daughter went to check on her snake - you guessed it, it was dead. But the other 2 snakes were alive & well.
She is a very sad little girl right now
So, if anyone has any pullets, I need to replace 2 of mine.
...I needed to get it off my chest.
