I picked up Deb's incubator yesterday (thank you again!!). Got home, plugged it in and it didn't take it long before it was up to 100. Kept checking it and it just sat there. max 100 min 100.

So this morning I get up, run to check the temps still 100/100. As I'm looking at it, it suddenly jumps to 102. This lasts for maybe 30 seconds, then back down to 100. But now the gauge reads 102/100.

eta: this is a still air and it should be between 100 and 102. Right?

I really need to relax. Or maybe just get some coffee :)

for anyone interrested, i have 2 cutsie pootsie chickies for sale. laree did my early nyd hatch for me of silkies and i um, have more silkie eggs coming in early february since i didn't get all the colors i wanted to hatch. one of them is a black frizzle, could be a sizzle, i don't know the difference. but it has 5 toes on each foot, leg feathering, curls galore and a poof coming in on top. this chick was promised to a friend up north but she sent me a message the other night that she can't take it anymore. so since i am limited on room i need to sell this one and i will sell it with one of it's hatch mates, a white pure silkie, correct amount of toes, black skin. they are 4 1/2 weeks old and soooo cute! straight run. send me a pm, i am in north phoenix.

Here is a link for more info http://www.facebook.com/BackyardChickenFarmersUnite This permaculture group plans on ordering every other month. It's organic feed that is milled and bagged in Montana. Then loaded in a truck and delivered here. Can't get much fresher feed than that. I sure hope it goes well and my chickens like it. The more they order the lower the price will get. Price is already less than $20 a 50lb bag.

Gardeners The seed box is still in my possession. Tons of really cool stuff inside. Who needs it next?? Monday I have errands to run in the Prescott area. Middle of next week I will be in Phoenix. Someone shout mine and we can figure out when and where to meet.

Mahonri Yep 50lb bags of scratch and it is 14% protein!! I am trying a bag.

Go to the facebook page in the link above. There is a link there to the order form. I think Scott prefers paypal. You just fill out the order form and then paypal your dollars. The truck drops off in Chandler. On the order form there is an e-mail address for questions. BRB with some of the info Scott send me when I asked.

Bootsie

Many people are experience great results with the feed. I do get notification when the truck is en route. It is driving from Montana so it takes a day or two. Although the trucks have GPS and we could track when it may arrive. I think it costs money to check, so they never shared that info with me. However, the truck driver will have the phone number of the delivery location, so they will coordinate the drop of time.

So I will send out notice that the truck is on the way and you can expect a call to come pick up within 24-72 hours.

Nobody needs to be present when the truck arrives, except the guy with a fork lift. After the pallets are unloaded I will post, and email everyone who has order and we should all try to pick up within the following 24 hours.

That is it. Everyone has already paid, so there is no payment. It is simply a stop by and pick up your feed. No one oversees it. There is a clipboard, and you should check yourself off once you picked it up, but that is it.

No order forms are necessary when you pick up. The only people who will know about the arrival of the feed are those who ordered, so there won't be problems with chicken feed theft.

Hopefully that answers all of your questions.

I feed pellets, and they don't offer any. So, waste is a concern of mine. The advice I got from the permaculture people was to build a treadle feeder.

If I am happy with the feed, guess I will be following Gallo's plans. Just when I thought I was coming to an end of construction stuff.
