Actually Jim it was stored in my home. 2 bags were opened the second day I got them. My baby chicks are inside in the guest bathroom.

That food was molded before it got to me. One of the guys that works there that helped me load stuff in my car told me I was not the first person to bring it back. The Manager refuses to open a few random bags and see for himself or send the whole shipment back. That's okay. They have lost my chicken feed business. I will still shop there for other stuff. I love that store.......the manager, nice guy but not very customer service oriented.

It may have been a bad lot. Surely not alllllllll of it is bad. I just recommend you dump it in another container and check it before feeding it to your new chicks.

Guest bathroom?

You should be ashamed of yourself! Chicks should never be held in a guest bathroom! We keep ours in the living room! Its "friendlier"! Second class citizens are sent to a guest bathroom. Prize chicks deserve the living room!

Actually, I've been to his house... they are in the living room! Catherine loves the chicks. It's the big ones she's not too fond of.

Mine are in the shop and hubby doesn't really even want them there, but he hasn't kicked them out yet.

Does anyone know when the date is for the Monticello Atwoods opening?

Not at liberty to say! But the 'soft opening" is close. Very, very close. We will announce the Grand Opening as soon as we are allowed to. Our 4-H club will be assiting with its celebration.

Have heard baby chicks will be present at the Grand opening!

We use "Brooder totes" and she lets them stay about 2 weeks, then they go out to the brooder house.

Julie - I still say that large silver "box" would make a great brooder! He doesn't really need a kiln anyway!

Julie is correct...very, very soon!

Did you buy several bags at one time?

Well, at least at first, our Atwoods will ahve all new items. In 6 months..... who knows?

Last year, we bought all our chick starter at atwoods and did not have problems with mold. We did however, have problems with bugs all throughout the feed. The bugs were already in the bags when we opened them. We did not have any chicks die.

Later in the year, we switched to Purina and had to switch stores. Did not find bugs in any of the purina feed however, we did purchase a bag that had mold in it. I discovered it when I was pouring it into the feed trash can. We poured it back into the bag and called the store. They told us to get rid of it and come in and they gave us another bag.

The thing I would look at is the date on the feed bag. The store may be new but you don't know how long the feed has set in the warehouse.

Sorry, you lost your chicks. That is just terrible. That was a lot of money and time in getting them hatched and to lose them because of feed. That is sad.
