Yes I am in Ozark. I have a young roo about 12 weeks old that I would part with. I also have an older roo almost a year that has a half white tail feather that I'm probably going to cull before long. He is a really nice looking roo all except for that one feather. Guess it depends what you are going for with your flock if any white matter to you or not. The SOP states no white, what so ever. Anyway I have a few pics of my eggs and birds on my profile page if you want to check them out.

I will be as soon as it warms up. I have a batch of chicks in the brooder and eggs in the incubator that I am trying to figure out where to put them until they are fully feathered.

I understand. , I can't use him either. I do have the 3 month old roo also. I have considered keeping him for a replacement of the white tailed one. I did just hatch off some babies a few weeks ago and have some roos in that group that I can keep later on. Can I ask what line your Welsummers are? I'm always looking for good stock and/or new blood to throw in with mine for improvement.

Ok sounds good. Just give me a shout when you are ready. I come through Caulksville at least 2 times a week going to Waldron and could meet up with you if you like.

Here is a pics of the roo I'm letting go. He has some white as you can see in his tail feather. If you ever wanted to show him as I understand white is a DQ. I dont show any of my birds but am trying to breed towards the standard for those who might. I don't keep him in the pen with my hens that sell hatching eggs from. I have him in with some of my cull welsummer hens and other barnyard hens (thats were I get my eating eggs). Otherwise good looking rooster, I have thought. He came from good stock and a really dark egg also. His shanks are yellow just bad lighting and a cell phone pic. I also have a 3 month old roo that I was considering keeping but would let go also. I'll see if I can post a pic of him also in a little bit.

If it were me, I would pull the white feather out. When it comes back in, it may be okay.

But Jim, the genetics are not right. I think BWalden is doing it right by not using him for his quality stock. He said he doesn;t show so I don't see what he would gain by pulling the feather?
