Arkansas folks speak up.........

Hello,

I live in NEA near Jonesboro and am starting my first small backyard flock. I'm looking forward to re-learning how to own chickens and getting some tasty eggs in the process.

Below is a picture of the eggs so far today. There may be more before sundown.

Hi! We’re in Saline Co., in Central AR! So excited to start meeting fellow Chick-loving Razorbacks!
We’re new owners of:
4 RIR-Hybrids
4 Houdans
4 Silkies
2 D’Uccles Bantams

Welcome, from another Taylor in Arkansas. You can find a lot of info on the site as well as a lot of opinions.

Maybe, this thread will become a bit more active.

At present I have;
1 full grown Ameraucana
4 Ameraucana chicks
1 RSL
4 Welsummers
2 full grown Silver Laced Wyandottes
2 SLW chicks
1 Nankin
1 Splash Cornish Bantam
1 Nankin X Splash Cornish
1 Old English Game Bird bantam

Plus I have 15 eggs in an incubator so we will see how the numbers change.

Wow! Look like you’ve got your hands full!
Ours are all 6 weeks old, and sadly looks like a few of our very faves are going to be boys.

Yes, but that is good. For me the birds actually help with stress

I really enjoy hearing my Welsummer rooster crowing. I can hear him when I am at my parents place about an eighth of a mile away. The first time I heard him he startled me good....I thought my dad was in the barn using his band saw. But, it was my rooster!

Actually, I have 3 roosters. So far they are getting along fine. And, yes, all 3 are over a year old. Of course, that could change at any time....

I got a picture of my youngest roo yesterday. He is a darker colored bird but really shines in the light.

His mama is the Splash Cornish bantam in the background.

I put my chicks in the integration pen yesterday. They are doing well so far.

In the front you can see my Welsummer rooster.
