Arkansas folks speak up.........

I'm nervous about chick #3 getting out ok. I'm about to work and she's probably in bed. I just hope it makes it out ok. The other two eggs I was sure I had seen developement in still haven't even pipped. Oh well, no use worrying. I hope to wake up tomorrow to good news.

No, I hadn't heard about the tornado...I hope no one was hurt.

I haven't heard about anyone getting hurt, but my Dad told me it touched down in Hampton too and I haven't heard anything about that yet. I hope everyone's ok too.

There was a tornado down here about 15 minutes from us. We didn't know about it until we got home Friday. I think the area was mostly rural. We saw it in the the dark, but we could see some twisted trees and such.

That's a little too close for comfort.... 15 min's away.....such weird weather !!!!

I am not wanting cold weather !!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone else not liking the cold?

Oh, I hate, hate, HATE really cold weather. I hate it when I get so cold my back tenses up and hurts, and my jaw hurts. What is that all about? If it weren't for that, I might could stand it. I sometimes really regret having chickens in the winter, and I love chickens, so that ought to tell you how bad I hate the cold. My kids love it! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr

...and it's hard to type with cold fingers!

Julie, glad no one was hurt out your way either.

If it gets below 70 I'm bundling up. People make fun of me but I can't handle it too well. It's like my blood slows down or something. I'm not near as active as usual.

Springtime - hurrrrry !!!!!

I moved here from Maryland last year partially to get warmer. It's starting to get chillier here but our house stays magically warm, in the summer when it is hot outside it stays magically cool.

I think a lot of the hot/cold thing is mental. There is another thread going on BYC, great places to live and many people are saying "Wisconsin" "Minnesota" and I am thinking, you've got to be kidding. I guess some people just welcome the cold with open arms.

We are headed to the fair today!

I had no idea there was a tornado either. Glad it only topped your tree. Hope more of those chicks have hatched, have you heard anything yet?

We hate the cold too. We moved here from south Florida. Coldest it ever got was maybe into the 50s for a day or so, kinda like how it gets below freezing here only for a day or 2. The average winter temps were in the upper 70s low 80s. So we are very conditioned to warm weather. It is practically the north pole to us right now. Been here 3 years and still not used to it. It's the only reason we can't see staying here long term, so we are keeping our options open

We both always say the winter is the only thing we would change about here. So we are cheering on global warming!

Just kidding please don't flame me for that comment.

Wimps, I love cold weather. I can't stand to sweat. I didn't get a chance to go to the fair today because I decided to stay home and watch Eva. I wanted to make sure she was using that leg. I didn't think she was getting enough water so I gave them some watermelon and gave Eva some applesauce when she took her meds. Mabey I will go Tuesday when I don't have class after work. Sorry to hear about the tornado, Im glad everybody is ok.

I got my babies (13) and penedesenca's today !!!! They are so cute. Not all of them hatched so Julie said in a couple of weeks we can meet up again and she'll bring some eggs. I'm going to get 6 more Welsommers and 6 more Spitzhaubens. I only had 1 Wel and 4 Spitz hatch. She's a really nice lady to work with.

verycherry....hope your hatch is doing ok....

urban....yes, I am a very big wimp. I have no problem accepting this fact. I've been around the midwest all my life and I have never gotten use to it.

I'll get pic's up tomorrow night. I didn't get back with everyone and get them settled until after dark.
