Well I'm a little worried the ice coming in could mess my hatching thoughts up. I don't have a generator if the power goes out.

I understand. I have some chicks in the brooder in the coop but at least I have a generator. I’ll fill my gas cans today and set up a box for the chicks in the garage in case the power goes out. I’ll probably move them to that box in the garage anyway for tonight. I’ll have enough going on cranking that generator and managing other things that it would be good not to have to worry about moving the chicks too.

A short power outage won’t hurt you but a longer one sure could. Is there a way you could put warm water in the incubator if the power goes out? I would not worry about humidity at all for a while but be careful to not use water hot enough to cook them. A lot of us have ways to heat water without electricity, maybe with propane. If power goes out for a while a propane burner and some propane bottles might be handy to have around.

from NE Arkansas! I am going to be putting in my first batch of eggs in my new bator in a day or two. I have a barnyard mix of many different breeds, if you want to look at my birds they are in my profile. I am planning on setting about 3 dz they should hatch around the 13th of march. PM me if interested in my babies!

Chicks $3.00 each, $20.00 for shipping and materials

Sounds like everyone is having lots of good hatches!! CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
