Arkansas folks speak up.........

So its only been 6 day of incubation for khaki Campbell eggs but I see veining in 12 of the 29 eggs hop to see more of the growing by Friday and canceled call duck eggs put in incubator Friday and see small spot on yolk :) look like growth in all 9 so excited

@magpiesing my husband is working at the LRAFB. It is horrible that they had to go in yesterday, the roads were dangerous! They are there again today too.

@Rayray, I haven't incubated yet but I don't see how ya'll get so excited about it. Its a lot of work, especially if you don't have a turner. All those little lives in your hands... yikes! I'd be so upset if none made it.

all the work is what makes it worth it the fact that you took what would be breakfast and in 21-28 day made a life out of it even if one hatches its worth it before Jan I said the same thing but once that first egg hatches something inside you clicks and your adicited and you learn and try different incubation methods its a awesome hobby ! Yes buying chicks and ducklings is so much easier but I've seen the difference between my own chicks and shipped chicks and my chicks seem healthier and grow so much faster

I guess im lazy all my bators are automatic all I need to do is keep an eye on the humidity and add water if needed, and figure out what to do with all these chicks. im so used to the low hatch rate of shipped eggs that I over did it with my own eggs which have a much better hatch rate.

Awesome and I have to say ducklings are the messiest lil critters ever! Going to fix them up a brooder in the coop today because I've been having to change bedding in brooder inside house ever other day I don't see how they manage to get the water from the waterer to splash 2 ft from it but they do!!! Also lost 2 of the small silkies I got from tsc they weren't that healthy looking from the get go but the 3 I have left are doing great
Awe! Sorry to hear of your silkie loss...

My ducklings are also messy. The big plastic storage bin they are in has to be changed daily because they keep dumping out their water, and it's aggravating... I have hooks punched through the top of the waterer so it hangs instead of sitting on an uneven pile of shavings. Nope... They dump it.

I have sorta fixed my problem took a shallow pan covered it with hardware cloth and put the waterer on that so now when ducks splash it falls into the pan :) no more wet shavings :) just dump the pan when I water and all is right in their lil world :)

I know what ya mean I incubated a ton of eggs for my first time hatching cause I didn't expect good results the extras I had went quick a 2 bucks each for barnyard mix and now majority of the EE and polish eggs I have will be sold basicly whatever hatches plus got couple folks wanting the khaki Campbell duckling lol had a few people ask for call duck duckling but told em I'm keeping whatever hatches
