I have a 1 year old Cochin rooster that needs a home where he will be more appreciated. I already had 2 Phoenix roosters for flock protection. 'Frodo' is too big for our girls, and my husband is tired of hearing too many roosters crowing before the crack of dawn. The boys all get along well enough and are great around people also. We also wouldn't be too sad if #2 golden duckwing Phoenix went to a new home also. Afraid Frodo may be headed for the stewpot if I can' t place him. He is a fine boy.

I've got four pullets that are about 20/21 weeks old ( guess without looking at a calendar and counting it up), that should start laying in about a month or so.

Hello Arkansans. I live between Bryant and Benton. First time owning some chickens and it is awesome!

So far I have just been feeding the basic layer pellet from the farmers association and wonder if I can find any better. Can't really afford a full out organic feed or anything and I do feed them a lot of vegetable scraps.

Thinking about giving them an occasional handful of boss.
Would also like to find some local farmer so I can maybe get some bulk grains to mix for them like wheat, barley flax etc.

Free range or coop?

I have too keep them in a coop with an 8x16 run. I try to throw them fresh greens as much as possible. I worry about them eacaping into a neighbors yard all i have is a 4 ft fence
