Ok, I got my cockerel! Thanks for all your well wishes!
Here's what happened in a nutshell.
No flight that would take lives, so he was sent back, BUT Bev was in a JURY, and couldn't take calls of course, so couldn't pick him up. Late that night, Patty, a lady at the PO called her hubby who works at the main plant and mentioned what happened, that the cockerel was STILL there with no one to come get him. Her hubby said "Uh-uh, noooo, they can't just leave him. Take him and get him some food and water, and then drive him out here (an hour away) and I'll make sure he gets a flight out." Well, he did! He got him on a plane, and I don't know what route he took but he didn't arrive in LR until late last night, so he probably had several transfers and some down time. Then he went to Hot Springs early in the morning and he arrived in Arkadelphia around 6 a.m. this morning. Whew!!! Let me tell you he was feed up and was trying to break out of that box! I gave him an very ripe peach and he gobbled it up. He's doing fine now and is getting used to his new home. I've been a nervous wreck!
One thing I'm sure of, Patty and her hubby are good people.
Amanda, any sign of your quail?
