Arkansas folks speak up.........

I won a buck, but I bought some kid a textbook doing it

I need to leave my hermit like existance, venture into Russellville and get some tickets!!

If everybody wants this thread to grow, try not to ignore people when they pipe in with questions etc... I've found myself getting peeved at the clique-iness that occurs in this group at times. I've also gotten pms from people where they comment that if you aren't deemed one of the popular people on here you will be ignored. I'll unsubscribe if this turns into middle school and becomes unpleasant.

No one on here is any better or any worse than anyone else. We all like chickens, period.

Do you mean the Arkansas thread, or byc in general. Most stuff I see on this thread seems to get talked about and answered, unless I am missing something. I thought we were all getting along well

I was just reading back thru our post. I would feel terrible if someone got their feelings hurt or felt ignored. I really thought we were doing great and everyone that introduced themselves got a warm welcome. This thread does not belong to anyone and everyone is free to post as they see fit as long as they follow BYC rules.

I hope nobody thinks that about me, I've been a square peg all my life. I do notice though that there are some of us Arkansans that talk more than others but I wouldn't think that would make anyone of us a chicken snob.

If I know the answer, I'll pipe up. But I've still got lots to learn and if I don't know the answer, I'll wait for someone to come along with more experience because giving the wrong advice could kill a chicken!

ETA: I bought a dollar ticket today and won a dollar. So I bought another ticket and lost my dollar.

Thought I'd make a new post to see if anyone here might be interested in a handsome cuckoo marans roo? I have one too many and only 3 pullets. They've come of age and two of my pullets have left the cuckoo flock and joined the ee's cause these boys are starting to harass the girls.

Also I have one absolutly stunning standard EE roo. Again with the one too many. He's very sweet and is proving himself to be an excellent flock leader.

Annnnndddd I have a lovely litte cochin/ee roo. He is very pretty and favors the cochin. Butter yellow with a pretty black collar and hackle feathers to match. In fact, if I didn't know that he'd hatched from a bluish egg, I'd think he was a full cochin boy. He's a very pretty thing.

All told I have five roos and only six pullets in that pen and that's more than the girls can handle.

Hope you find a home for your rooster, Chicky. I will have at least two Golden Cuckoo Marans roos to find homes for in a few months. I want to keep them until I see how they look feathered out. The guy I got eggs from said he thought he saw two pullets out of four, but I'm not sure yet.

luvarabahorses, I can't imagine sending someone a PM just to be hateful. Most of the folks on here seem very nice and helpful. Maybe you just ran across the bad apple in the barrel. I think everyone on this thread especially is very open and wouldn't do anything to offend on purpose.

luvarabhorses Don't unsubscribe!!! Honestly, sometimes I don't get an answer either, or a comment about something I post, but I figure everyone is busy or just doesn't know. I know I'm busy. Sometimes I miss several days in a row and then come to this thread and see that there are several pages to go back and read, but I don't always have the time to do that (single Mom, 3 kids, about 100 chickens, a van that always breaks overheats, no internet at the farm, taking kids to practice, a paralyzed dog that I'm tending to, expressing her bladder and therapy, lots of laundry!!! ETC... You get the idea, and I just don't always have the time to go back several pages....although I usually do try. I'm sorry if I missed something you posted that way. Please give us another chance.

Oh, and about my van, it cracked a head??? or something major in the motor Friday....probably why it's been acting so badly the last few months, working up to this breakdown! Anyway, it wasn't fixable without putting a lot of money into it, so my Dad and I kind of went together and got a nice used van. He's going to use it on his early morning paper route on the weekends, and I get to use it the rest of the time. It's pretty nice for a used one, especially on the inside. It's a 1998 Dodge. I'm happy! It's a lot nicer, cleaner, and more reliable than what I WAS driving. Maybe I can make it to the meet-ups now, yeah!!!

Thanks Jarhead! It was about time!

Oh Amanda, bad news, I lost BOTH of those Lavender chicks. I was sooooo disappointed. I bought four chicks that day (from Atwoods), 2 Lavender, a black and a white, and have lost 3 of them. I only have the black one left. I also lost a few from a batch I got a few days before. I just don't think that they were strong from the get-go. Maybe they got chilled or didn't get to water and food soon enough. They just never did act spunky and lively. Now, the little d'Uccles I bought from the meetup (or rather my friend picked them up for me there) are doing VERY well. Quite a contract in fact.
