I just candled 30 eggs. None of them are fertile. I was using this rooster for the first time. Now I just don't know what to do. I also have 2 broodies with his eggs. I guess I will check them in a few days.

I'll try that. Thanks. I just hatched 22 or so eggs from the same hens with a different roo. So fustrating. He's the only roo I have now. I do have lots of young boys that I was planning on keeping. Hurry and grow up.

Now that I think about it. He never tries to mate with them. I need to watch him for a few hours. Or maybe take him away for a few days.

Hi everybody!

It's been a long time since I've checked out this thread. Thanks for the advice on breaking Zoii from her broody-fit. She's back to her old self now( although she has not laid yet). I am looking to re-home my 1 1/2 year old EE hen. She has become far too aggressive for my little flock. My poor little RIR I got two months ago has a BIG bald spot on the back of her neck thanks to Gladys. She will not leave her alone. Gladys is in the quarentine coop by herself now. The others are doing great. No fighting or pecking. I really don't want to put up with a trouble making in my coop. How is everyone's Spring going so far?

These are American Buff Geese. Spent most of today rebuilding this coop. It was a quick build before I had the proper tools (air stapler etc). We also have an automatic waterer in this one now.

I'm still trying to sell my cuckoo marans flock just so I can have more room. 3 hens and a roo if anyone knows someone. They're a year old and I'm asking $65. I also have a cuckoo cockeral that needs to go soon. He's a hormonal little snot and he's in with four pullets at POL that I need to integrate with the big girls. He's a beauty, but I'm afraid that Big Daddy (his father) would tear him up if I tried to put him in too.

Then I have 20 more chicks brooding in the house. LOL!! 7 of them are serama and I don't think I'll have too much of a problem finding them homes, I just want to grow them out some more because I plan to keep a couple of the pullets and another roo or two. Two precious little cochin bantams and 8 black copper marans, but somehow a cuckoo marans slipped into that brooder. I'm not sure how since I bought these eggs all to be BCM. Then there are 3 pretty little 6 week old ee's on my front porch. I'm done, DONE! Until maybe November or so.

We needed a temporary duck pen so I threw this together. Then the ducks outgrew it. The wire was held on with wire ties. Today Danyelle and I stapled the wire on; enclosed the end; added slats for the feed area. The automatic waterer works great. These geese usally eat their feeder full in a few minutes. Today they ate about 2 inches and finished up with green grass. We still need to add metal on the top, but the tarp is fine for now.

None of my roo's eggs are fertile. He's just not breeding them. Sooo... I went and bought some eggs from a place in Texas. Just across town. She gave my 8 silkie/showgirls (don't know anything about that breed) 3 bantam blk sumatra, and 5 seramas. I put 8 under the broody hen and 8 in the nest box. Theres a hen thats thinking about sitting. I'm done with the bator for now. I will have some cockrels to find homes for.(crele OEGB) But first I will pick out 2 replacements. There are a few hens that need to go too.(crele OEGB) But, I do have a few months to do that. Now its time to have fun in the garden and watch the chicks grow.

Monticello Poultry and Small Animal Swap Meet

Plans are in the works for a Monticello Poultry and Small Animal Swap Meet. The host/sponsor will be the Drew County 4-H Poultry Club. Our 4-H Club voted last week to host the swap. We then presented this to the Drew County Fair Board. The DCFB voted to allow us the use of the fairgrounds for our swap. We are awaiting an available date from the DCFB and will announce the date as soon as we have it. An invitation will be sent to all 4-H clubs in Arkansas.

Question is, how many breeders would be interested in a swap meet in Monticello? We are looking at possibly the third Saturday in June. Would there be any conflict? Please email me privately with your thoughts, if you can be a vendor and what species you might bring. There will be a $5 vendor fee and no charge for buyers. Donations would be accepted for a silent auction. The 4-H Club would also have concessions available.

We will make an official announcement when we have the date scheduled.
