Asha's Avian Addictions

And some particularly dirty eggs. 2 were found under the roost and two were found in the nesting boxes. I also have no clue who is laying those cream-almost white eggs. None of chickens *should* be laying eggs that light but they are crosses afterall so there could be some curious genetics at play.

I checked on Lady again before I sleep and noticed that through the night her Fuzz had doubled so I suspect she may have gone into full broody mode (sitting)

Lady has finally sat. I don't know for sure, but I believe she's on 14 eggs, 15 at most. I caught her last night with her nest fluff doubled and took it as a sign that she'd gone full broody. And now that I popped in and she's still on the nest midday tells me she's sat. Plus, she's making those adorable but very ferocious, 'angry mouse squeaks' as I like to call them.

Ducklings in 35 days I can't wait! April 26th is the due date, though I only expect the babies to maybe start pipping the 26th. I'm so terribly happy about her clutch, I lost three hens this winter due to predation and I lost my beloved Crouton last fall and of course Lady hatched 12 in December that all passed away so this feels very hopeful for me. May she have a very healthy hatch :wee:jumpy

My first two hens hatched from last year, Bitey (grey, bet you cant guess why shes named that) and Roo (red, we thought she was a rooster hense the name)

Hard to believe they're sisters when they're practically opposites in color!

My first hatched rooster from last year, Bo. He hatched an all yellow chick which was a shock since his dad was an Easter Egger. (The rest of the clutch was brown shades with stripes.) His color came in and he quickly became one of my favorite roos. Creamy yellow neck, lacing on the breast, grey pants with a grey tail, and of course his firey shoulders!

+ Roo the hen in the background wondering what on Earth I am doing
