Deb, as long as I have been in the south I have never seen or heard of anyone cooking blackeyed peas in the pod. Interesting idea. Even if I went to the farmers market to try to find you some, I don't think I could get them to you before they would wilt. They would have to be freshly picked that way.
Now turnip greens on the other had will wilt but the minute you put them in water, they perk back up just like they were just picked ! They are amazing!
