I'm sure many people are soon going to be buying the sex-link Sapphires (thank you egg prices). I now have 10, from Hoover's through TSC. I have fears of a few being cockrels even though I paid extra for all pullets. What do I need to show here to get help to find out what my 3 day old chicks are? Or am I going to have to wait weeks to find out if I actually have Roos?

If you would like to post pictures of them I am sure everyone can help. Seeing them will make it easier. I have 3 Sapphire Gems and may be able to help you.

If they're sexlinks, the possibility is about as close to 0% as possible to getting the wrong sex. But photos of the back of the head should help since I believe males should be head spotted

They are very young, less than a week at this point. WIll that make a difference?

With Sapphire Gems you can tell the gender at 1 day old supposedly. If they have a white spot on the head then they are roosters.
I have 4 with spots. The super dark head with dark yellow spot is very lazy and likes the wings splayed, hopefully it stays healthy.

Yeah, those are 4 Roosters.... Sorry. If you specifically bought pullets then you should be able to take them back.

That was my fear. They were a mail-order only. So now I have to figure out what to do. There's no regulations against roosters in my area, but I don't know anyone who has or wants them.

I'd offer them for free on craigslist after contacting the hatchery with your order invoice and pictures
