At what age do cockerels mature and start crowing?

Mine started crowing at 16 weeks and trying to mate shortly after. He's my only rooster but we can faintly hear another rooster down the road.

I have a 12 week old and 2 x 8 weeks old. No crowing yet...... Like you woodsygal we can hear a rooster from a neighbour nearby so maybe that will encourage them!

I heard someone try to crow at 3 weeks, we have a lot of cockerels, because I got a straight run batch of broilers, but I also have 3 in my dual purpose chicks, and those boys haven't crowed yet.

My boys are now 20 weeks and 17 weeks (I sold one of the younger ones) and still nothing
They do look beautiful though!

Had 2 Barred Rocks that started at about 16 weeks and crowed non stop...then they turned into typical mean roosters and became dumplings!

I have a 9 week old EE SilkieX Cockerel that crowed at 5 weeks and is now mounting my other pullets. I do have an older Roo and he is not intimidated by him. I think I'm in trouble, lol.

One of my 5 wk old Cochin Bantams started trying to crow a couple of days ago. Sounds like he's dying. It's hilarious

We have a bantam barred rock 6mo old that has been crowing a long time and starts early at 5 am and is louder than our fully mature Sumatra roo. Then we have two silver pencil rock and one bt polish cockerel that are all from same hatch as the noisy boy and they aren't making any noise at all!
