August Hatch-A-Long

Pics
I want some pretty blue egg's to hatch.

Get some Whiting True Blue eggs! They breed true to the blue egg coloring, hence the name. They're also egg laying machines, my True Blue hen has been one of my most consistent layers, she surpassed my Leghorn and is only second to my Amberlink because my Amberlink didn't even take a month off over winter.

I'll have to find out if anyone is selling and ships those. I hope that they lay egg's that are bigger than the Crested Cream Legbar's do.

Those are on my list! As well as some of the true greens. Alchemist farms has the sage and miss eggers that look neat too. Chickens... Pokemon of the poultry world! I want them all! :lau I can't wait until we move in a few years and have more property.

The eggs are marked in the carton, larger eggs on the right are Whiting True Blues and in the incubator, at lockdown the 3 at the top of the image are the True Blues again, it's not the best angle but they're bigger than the CCLs. :)

Do you have the parent's, or were they shipped egg's?

They're from one of my friend's flocks. I have a hen that is about 1.5 years old and three 8 week old chicks all from her flock. She regularly adds new blood so I don't have a clue what these newbies will look like but I was pretty surprised when the chick I got from her last year went from brown to blue plumage right around 8 weeks! They're extra mysterious chickens, you literally won't have a clue what color their plumage will be until right around 8-9 weeks. I should know soon with my new babies. They're smaller birds, good at flying and while she comes running for treats, she's one of the few hens that won't allow me to touch her so I imagine that would be considered a flighty breed. Oh, she's also a bit of a diva and will screech like a hawk when another hen is in the nest box she wants. lol

@CluckNDoodle how old are those CCL eggs?

@BlueBaby the blue in my nest are Easter eggers.

I’ve actually heard and seen from breeders of CCL that they lay jumbo eggs in their 2nd and 3rd year.

My very first hatch this year I had multiple CCL eggs bigger than my duck eggs. So hopefully yours will get bigger!!

I want to try the whiting true blue too.
