August Hatch-A-Long

@CluckNDoodle how old are those CCL eggs?

@BlueBaby the blue in my nest are Easter eggers.

I’ve actually heard and seen from breeders of CCL that they lay jumbo eggs in their 2nd and 3rd year.

My very first hatch this year I had multiple CCL eggs bigger than my duck eggs. So hopefully yours will get bigger!!

I want to try the whiting true blue too.

I don't know the exact age of her hens. I just got excited and put them in the incubator...I'm not really sure I do much thinking beyond that. :lau

Speaking of getting excited and putting eggs in the incubator without thinking...I swear every time I say I'm done hatching for the year it's like the universe wants to prove me wrong in record time....sooo, I may have just agreed to hatch some super exciting Silver Double Laced Barnevelders! It's likely going to be October when they're ready but she wants me to do a test hatch and I get to keep whatever hatches!!! Is it even possible to say no to that?! It's not. It's not possible.

I only have the one CCLB hen left and I have 1 NN/CCLB cross that is laying light green egg's, so I got a hold of what is supposed to be a black true Ameraucana that hopefully is a roo that I can put back over those 2 hen's.

NO it’s not possible YAY!!!! They’re GORGEOUS.

Funny story I had a barnevelder and I was rehoming a few hens and I had set her to go with a few others because it was a really, really nice place and I was about to hatch earlier this year and needed to make more room.

Anyway, I went to get her and the others and they left and then I went to the nest box and WOULDNT YOU KNOW the Barnevelder had laid the elusive PURPLE bloom egg. :he
