August Hatch-A-Long

Pics
That's odd that the temp changed randomly after so many straight hatches without changing anything. Do you have more than one thermometer in there reading the same? I only ask because I've had more thermometers go bad than anything else.
there are 2 possible reasons, the thermostat handle got bumped when i went into lock down, I have to take the top off and lean it up against the wall when I remove the egg turner... hard to explain why I have to do that but it has to do with the cord and the electrical outlet being kinda far away. Also I have the Temperature Gage in a new location for this hatch, before it was off the side and this time its right in the middle. Before it went from 99 to 98 when I went into lock down because the gage gets lowered, this time it dropped 2 more degrees than I am used to. Gage placement can cause a 2 degree temp change... or is it 3, I forget. Its still between 95 and 100 so I am not sweating it too hard.
(Edit: technically I am sweating it very hard, for some reason I am not handling the heat today as I did earlier in summer... )

Not a great pic but I cant count how many pips there are!

I’ve posted in main forum. Am now down to 5 viable eggs out of 12. Blue/black marans but they’re all looking good with strong veins. I didn’t get to see this with the diddy candler on my box last time. However this is only second time and I had late hatchers with issues and some that didn’t make it at all last time. Well I didn’t leave them as was traumatised by the two with deformed legs and was scared what would come out.
Anyhow these are the air cells this time at day 14. Humidity has been an issue but I worked out if I vent the box with a credit card in one end (worst feature of my box no vents ) I can keep it at 35-38% Do these look ok for day 14.

Good morning! 3 blue Silkies hatched last night. Intervened with 2 Blue and 1 Buff, of which 1 blue and the buff are still mostly in shell waiting to be helped out. I intervened because the blue had zipped but stopped trying. Turns out the membrane across its back and wings had dried. It was also very sticky. DIS are a b/s (it was a splash :hit) and 3 buff.

So.. my question is this.. I didn’t open the incubator but the one time. Humidity and temp have shown consistent in all thermometers and hygrometers. Humidity is at 65%. I dry incubate. WTH is causing the mixture of sticky chicks and shrink wrapped chicks? I’ve never had so many deaths after lockdown!! Is it the shipped eggs? New incubator? New location of incubators? (Garage, never goes above 78-80, but does go into the 60’s at night) I have never had this many issues until starting with this new setup.

I don’t have high hopes for the poor Seramas.

Looks good to me for day 14.

Air cell size looks fine to me!

Oh no! I'm so sorry about the losses! Shipping eggs can have so many odd things go haywire sometimes that it's hard to say, you never know what the eggs are exposed to on their trip.
@jolenesdad expressed a similar frustration with the shipped eggs he hatched.
You have a lot of factors to consider and it sounds like you're already going down the logical list of what could have caused it but sometimes we just can't figure out exactly what went wrong.

I would think the only way to be sure would be to either use an incubator your familiar with in the new location or move your new incubator to a more stable ambient temp location and see what happens. I hope the Seramas hatch without issue for you!

My August hatch

11 Light Sussex eggs in my HELO 'BM-12' (its a German made incubator) due to hatch on the 23 of August, fingers crossed.
and 3 Light Sussex eggs in my broken HDD 12 as an after thought, after I made a bottom for it out of Styrofoam and sat it in a wooden box. They are due on the 25th and 26th because I just went crazy adding eggs.

I'm so sorry, it sucks when they don't make it I know.

Maybe don't dry hatch with shipped eggs next time or try adding humidity a little earlier in the hatch?
