August Hatch-A-Long

Pics
So we now have 5 from earlier out in the brooder under their heat plate. I just had to help one who was definitely stuck. Looks like shrink-wrapped, probably from opening the incubator even though I tried to only do it after a humidity spike or with the shower running hot water. (they're in my bathroom, my dogs got too excited about the early guy chirping so I moved them.) I may need to assist the last as the incubator was open for the other fellow, but taking a look inside I still see veins so I'm not touching it right now.

Sticky chick isn't doing too hot, still struggling to get his feet under him. I just tried loosening some of the gunk off of him in hopes that they will help. I took a video for opinions. He keeps falling over after I stand him up. Thoughts? He had been midzip since this morning.

Do you have any nutridrench? I forget what you can get at a regular pharmacy but @CluckNDoodle will know. Another good thing for that chick will be some scrambled egg, and they all can benefit from it, when it gets into the brooder.

Im in my chicken room... and... Argh. Those 3 Marans I was talking about yesterday literally grew more comb overnight, and they're not even 3 weeks old yet. I love that about Marans, but also hate it sometimes. The dream is over. LOL.

Now I am holding my breath for the fourth one, that is ALSO the largest one. :-\ annoying. Typically the giant Marans are boys, but, my broody mama was a gigantic chick, and she is clearly a she. ;-) I see no noticeable comb growth in either the wheaten or the largest blue copper. If there's nothing in ten days, then at least I got 2. What is it with lopsided Marans hatching rates this summer? I have seen so many crazy high numbers of boys. My earlier Marans hatch this year was incredibly boy heavy, too. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The alternative to Nutridrench is Polyvisol WITHOUT iron it's a liquid infant vitamin that can be found at most drug stores and some grocery stores.

I'm sure some of them have to be pullets! Right?! :fl

what is the earliest you have seen eggs rocking and rolling in an incubator hatch? yep I goofed and didn't take the meticulous notes I usually do and may be off, I thought Sunday was start of Lock down but I see eggs rocking in there?

I've seen them rocking early, but that's quite early. I would candle and see if maybe they're farther along then you thought.

candled and the eggs look pretty dark in there, hard to think i would have been that far off, though but then again I've never missed taking my meticulous notes either such as set date, time , temp humidity they actually look like they might be ready took out the turner and will hand roll them for the time being just in case I really was that far off. May toss the incubator out in the locked shed I have to drive to after this hatch lol

I locked down a day early on day 17 last time and had tons of rocking and still an on time hatch...so that was 4 days before hatch. I think they can technically start rocking around day 15? Have they started to draw down at all?

Lol, It happens! I set an egg that I knew was already developing when I set it and I still somehow timed lockdown wrong in my head and that little trooper pipped while still rolling around in the turner. I don't have the link anymore but I previously shared a study that was done that said early lockdown really isn't damaging. Good luck on your hatch! Keep us updated!
