August Hatch-A-Long!

I have a very hard time finding anything local.  Iam slowly build my contact list.  It's why I have so  many in the incubator.  People arestrange where I live.  I figured I had better buy some when I find the contact or I probably won't get a response from them in the future.  It has been working but I found most of them at one time.  I really wanted Isbar, Croad Landshan and Cream Legbars.  I found Cream Legbars local, I ordered Croad Langshan they are in the incubator and I have a bid on Isbars that I forgot about.  It's over in 40 minutes.  If I don't win, I'm not rebidding on any others.  I have others I won a week ago that still have not been shipped.
I'm in Alabama.  They would have to travel aways.  I did recently find someone local with eggs, unfortunately it was after I had already ordered some online.  I think I will buy some new ones locally.  But thank  you, I appreciate the offer.

I don't know the size of your community, mine is very small (population under 450 in our town and less than 800 in the nearby town). But if I posted a flyer on a public bull item board about an egg swap, I bett I would get some takers from chicken people I've not even met yet.

All this talk about proper humidity and adding teaspoons of water?? Just as an example of how different each location is...when I need to increase my humidity here in Arizona I have to add like 1/2 a cup of water! And this is during monsoon season, our most humid time of year. It will be interesting incubating in the spring when it's dry.

I think my 2 homegrown and 6 silkie egg lets must be getting busy in there because my temps have been increasing all day. This is day 19. In previous batches the temp always increased just before they pipped...must be from all the work they have to do to pip.

It's day 19 here. I'm up every 20 minutes looking into the bator. Good thing it's a table top cabinet and I can see everything inside!!! I thought I saw a little rocking in one of the eggs. Still had good movement in most of them when I candled at lock down. I can't wait I can't wait.... Hurry up chickers!

Same for me. I stop and look in every time I enter that room. No external pips yet. I don't get to watch rocking this time because I thought I would try hatching upright in an egg carton. I think I liked it better laying flat so I could see if they were moving or not :/

4 chicks out, 2 more just about out, 1 still hasn't pipped externally that pipped internally earlier today (not too worried, it's making quite a bit of noise and sounds like it's tapping now), and still waiting on one to even pip internally, did see it move though, and the veins are still very bright, so just waiting on the slow poke. Best hatch so far me!!!!
