I just don't know if I've done it right. I've made sure e's drinking water but he doesn't want to eat.

If it were my chick I would give him some electrolyte water, to help with the stress.

That's awesome to keep that tight of temp range in a homemade bator.

yea i thing so too. However, me being the over-achiever that i am, i want it tighter than that if its possible. I am using a heating element and thermostat from an older incubator with 2 40 watt light bulbs. I am using 3 cpu fans with one in the center of the heating element blowing straight on the thermostat.

If the chick is less than 48 hrs old, dont be to concerned with it eating. You can boil some egg or scramble some egg and see if that will tempt it to eat.

Congratulations! My first two chicks hatched before I could see them...little rascals!

Yay. Soon you will have them popping like popcorn out of the eggs.

I have at least one hatched this morning while I was out garage saleing. Hubby Texted me about it and I rushed ho.e! We've been out ever since so hoping we have more chicks when we get back! Today is day 21.

on a positive note in lock down are 9 out of 17 I got from one of our own here on byc and 7 out of 8 silkies that were on e bay..

I buy expecting it....I hate it when I get none, but that rarely happens.....I usually end up with a few...

That is not unusual. Pipping internally (when you start hearing peeping) is followed by pipping externally, then resting for 12-24 hours, then zipping, then hatching...all of that can take a day or two so it should put them right on schedule

Thanks . I've just never had them peep this early, usually, for me, they start the dY before or of hatch day so I kinda paniced! No early babies please!!!!!! Just nice healthy peeps

I just put some blue EE's in they were shipped so loose that 3 arrived broken! also it's been so hot that kills the eggs and they won't even start!

just realize it and be joyful for the little beauties your blessed with on hatch day!! they make you forget everything else!
