August Hatch-A-Long!

I started breaking into the shell little at a time, convinced it was still born anyway. I saw a small bit of blood then the inner soft covering was beating! i stopped, made sure the humidity and temp were good. Set it down with air pocket up, it rolled, adjusted and stopped.
Happy Dance..I think he just needs more time. I think all is good. His name will be Late! LOL fingers crossed as i won't be able to keep an eye on him for the next 4 days. maybe he will decide to make an appearance by the time I'm back. I won't be tempted to help anymore that's for sure.
I'm so glad!

I new things were going way to well with my cochin bantam eggs and something had to give at some point. My husband woke me up at 3:30 A.M. and said, the power was out. I jumped out of bed and ran straight to the incubator....the temp was 81. I did the only thing I could possibly think of which was to gather my 7 eggs and place them on my stomach covered with a pillow to warm them again. They are now back in the incubator and all are still moving (day 16) I just hope they make it through.
That was smart and dedicated. Isn't it nice to have a place to go where people say good job instead of calling you crazy?

Another Australorp and 2 silkies. So far 2 Silkies, 3 Red StarX Salmon Faverolle Bantam mixes, 4 Black Australorps and 8 Frizzle Cochin Bantams.

1 BA died during zip, it stopped to rest at the bottom and the goo dripped down and dried sticking it's face the the shell and sealing the breathing space. It looked healthy otherwise.

I still have 2 Buff Orpingtons day 21, 3 Australorps day 22, 5 Cochins day 22 and 6 Silkies day 22. No pips right now.

I have one with curled toes on one foot. The elbow/kneealso looks swollen and she won't but weight on it today. Other than the leg, she isvery strong and healthy. I tried to do a search but I am not using the right search words because I can't find anything on this specific problem. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Thanks, DeannaA. BYC is a wonderful website! I've spent a lot of time on here in the last 14 month's preparing for hatch, but I wasn't prepared for the power outage. The moral support is amazing!!! Yes, I'm very dedicated....these are my babies and I would do anything I could to save them!
