It's day 8-10 for the eggs under my broody Misty. Ten out of fourteen viable, including a beautiful sky blue egg and a light teal egg. The duck eggs also under Misty are both seven days older than all of the chicken eggs. Might have more duckies this month! Currently have around five ducks that are broody :)

Trinitydraco - Nice tips! I'll be looking into that egg prep solution. I'm worried about germs too. Do you make your own or do you buy it?

Wow so much activity I've missed. Congrats to all the new mommas!

So I posted on the main thread about my issues and got some nice tips. Including the salt test which I had never heard of before and it really helped me put my mind to ease.
Mr. Man got a thermostat to control the heat source and now it's pretty steady. The Bator still likes to run a little hot so we have it set for 99-98 rather than 100-99. Just because during testing there was a spike to 102 when it was set at 100 (Although the other thermometers read 99.8, better slightly low than slightly hot, I think. So we set the eggs yesterday.
Humidity is 40% went as high as 45% because a storm rolled in. otherwise, it's hovering in the low 30's. things are looking nice so far ^.^ now my watch begins.

what do you use for your egg prep?

mum brought them out of the coop today, at 3 days old! they've had a busy day learning to forage... trying not to get buried by mum's foraging activity, trying to preen when they've not quite got their balance sorted, tripping over twigs, hopping on logs, and generally being super cute :love

Nothing as of yet. I just pick the cleanest eggs for the incubator. I've heard of people cleaning their eggs carefully, but never with a actual solution before. I wonder what is bloom safe.
