Yep, after about a week they start trying to "take off" and I put a wire screwn over the brooder.

When I got up this morning Stewie had passed away

Not sure why.

I'm so sorry sweety! Was he by himself, or was he with the guinea keets?

by himself - they were way to big for him to be with. He spent his days just running back and forth. He did escape for a minute at one point - I wonder if he injured himself internally when he jumped. He seemed Ok afterwards and it wasn't that far of a "leap"

I've heard of the "boink" but he didn't do that. I was rearranging/cleaning out his brooder and leaped out of my hand to the floor. I was definitely a drop but he seemed OK at the time. He couldn't jump quite high enough yet to hit the top of his brooder which is an old window screen and would have some give if he did hit it.

oohh I had a single button quail that was running himself crazy in the aquarium.. I put a newly hatched chick in there with him -- kinda a "David and Goliath" relaionship.. but it worked.. they bonded and I even caught "David" on top of the chicks back-- couldn't get to my camera fast enough!!

now they have more company in the form of 4 pharoh quail and another button.. plus my first PRECIOUS Coronation Sussex chick.. so it looks like a zoo in there now.

well they say don't raise quail with chickens, and there was such a big size difference I was afraid the chick would peck baby quail. Of course now I am sorry I didn't try it.:p

Here's the three guineas that hatched from mrheinz

I'm a little worried about one, his lower beak is longer than the top one. Hoping he/she is getting enough to eat and drink
