Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I hope everyone had a relaxing week-end, kids dramas notwithstanding. I have a deadline coming up so asked DH to pick up a bag of chook feed & he came home with a bag of medicated feed for the right age.  However, he told me that the guy advised him not to eat the eggs for the first couple of week when they start laying. I had a look at the bag & the coccidis (sp?) medicine used is not registered for use in laying birds!  I have no problem using medicated feed. I just think it's a bit much to expect me to not be able to eat that very first $500 egg that I've waited 20+ weeks for, never mind two weeks of eggs. What feed do you guys use for the 8-18 week range & does this sound a bit dodgy to anyone else?  It's Barastock pullet grower - complete feed from 8 weeks to POL.

Go with any no medicated grower.

It's not too bad her this morning it's 1degree yesterday it was -2.c . This place was built in 1825 and it is just lovely.

It's not winter yet.. Omg note to ones self never visit Fancy in winter  :p Beautiful pics :)

TY. The grandkids loved it. We had the run of the entire estate. There is a lovely little hut in the garden that was especially for the gentlemen to light their pipe and have a hot toddy away from the ladies. When they needed more drinks they would run the flag up the post to signal the servants for more supplies. They even had the foresight to install a ' long drop ' lavy in the garden wall, (that is 4 bricks deep.) The cold is ok so long as you are prepared for it. Our fire is going and once the sun melts the ice it will be a lovely 18 degrees. This time of year means more work for me as I have to go round and hot feed and unrug all the horses. Once it gets a bit colder the rugs stay on 24/7.

What a beautiful estate Fancy ... just absolutely stunning. Would make a wonderful place to have a wedding.

@Lyrika - you certainly do have a motley crew!! Love love love that coop as well, very jealous. And may I say good on you for being a wildlife carer!

Hearing about a few snake lovers. I'm selling my Adult Hypo Central carpet python if anyone is interested or knows someone after one. He is male, about 3yrs old and never refuses a feed. Pm me for more details

Hey everyone been a while since ive had a chance to sit and enjoy a bit of mindless websurfing! Good to see everyone is well.

Now that I have the chance to be online again I need to ask some advice. I know female pekins can have ruffled neck feathers due to mating but my male is almost at the point where my female has a sort of redness showing through her feathers! Im so worried the poor thing is in pain but don't know what to do. Would they be upset if I was separate them ie give Stanley to a new home (parents idea I wouldn't be able to do it) or is it that I need another female to distract my male (which I also can't do or mum will loose it)

Sorry to come along a bit late here @JHek
.

We got our Rocks from a lady in Oakford called Katt. She has a FB page you can get in touch with her through that, has phone etc. If you don't use FB then let me know and I will dig her details out. I don't know of any other breeders in the metro area that sells Rocks or eggs.

If you are north you could try Henley Brook Chooks, I am yet to buy from them, but I think they might have Rocks.

Thank you! We also found a lady in the hills that had a few left (including a bantam breed) but they are quite young still so we can't integrate them yet =(
I'll have a look at the Facebook page =)
