It's $16 for 100 grams. Ash has a lot more birds than you do Lucas. And most of these drugs have a ' use by date ' . I have trimidine antibiotic that my avian vet sold me for a roo with a sinus infection. That was 2 years ago it was a 250gram tub and it is still 2/3 full. Cost me $60 and expires jan 2015. Active constituents
Sulfadimidine 430 mg/g and trimethoprim 86mg/g. It's for treatment in horses, calves pigs and poultry.

Hi all you chicken folk. Thanks for the welcome and the opportunity to share clucky news.

I'm in Brisbane's western suburbs, Queensland, and only have three chickens after losing one Light Sussex this week. She only displayed symptoms one afternoon. To the vet in the a.m. and died there. Autopsy showed advanced liver disease.

I also have two Black Australorps and at 22 weeks (tomorrow), one of them laid her first egg today. Very exciting.

I had noticed her comb's red colour had deepened over the last little while. People talk about 'egg songs' but I have to say, I hadn't noticed. I'll listen out for it now.

Sorry to hear about your Light Sussex. Did the vet give you any ideas what could have caused this?
Also, congrats on your first egg!

That is exciting : )

Nice Sam.

Thanks fancy

These girls are usually out roaming in the green side of the pen (my Whole yard) but I have been so caught up of late with long travel everyday to visit dad who is terminally ill (diagnosed aweek ago) that I was shocked yesterday at how much they had grown

I took the photo before letting them out. All they did was fight over who was sitting on my knee for a pat and the biscuit I had with my tea LOL

Yay, someone else who appreciate s the finer things in life. A cuppa with the chooks.

@satay - we got a heavy downpour on Saturday night. I think we got about 10mm out of it!

Sorry to hear about your Yoko Lucas. I hope he's on the mend very soon.
Condolences to you too Tippy Toes. I also had a LS pass away unexpectedly a couple of weeks ago. I suspect old age and her being overweight were the biggest contributors.

The Rhode Island Red quad I hatched are now 11 weeks old and went to their new home on Saturday. They've gone to live with a friend's parents so I'll still get to see them. I'm hoping the roo will make big, strapping babies for them to replenish their ageing flock.
The roo is still yet to crow; he may be a late bloomer

So I'm now to two Orpington girls and one PR bantam that I'm keeping. I may decide down the track to sell one of the Orps, but for now, all three are staying put.

Hi there.

I'm from Melbourne and I am a first timer with chooks. I just bought for the kids 3 Belgium D'uccles at point of lay. Very friendly birds which is great for the kids as they can pick them up and give cuddles. Looking forward to learning heap about raising chooks.

Cheers

Ollie
