Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Well so much for our temporary gate. Look who I just found in the nesting box (the one at the back)

There is a reason she gets called Houdini

And five minutes after taking her out of the nesting box she still hasn't moved.

Do you think she might be broody lol

Lol my do they get stubborn when broody

My Aussie sat for 4 weeks tried breaking her wouldn't work.

Gave her eggs. She sat another 3 weeks and hatched them.

Thankfully she hasn't been broody since ( fingers crossed)

@K Spot That's a handsome bird. I envy you guys, spring would be nice. I'm only down to 2 broodies right now, 2 are molting after being broody, 1 hasn't laid her first egg yet and 1 is producing an egg per day. Winter is also approaching fast. The trees are dropping their leaves.

In preparation for winter I covered the run in corrugated plastic yesterday. Over there, down under, this would probably be great for cooking chickens this time of the year.

The girls seem to enjoy the wind cover.

The princesses look as though they are having a holiday.

Teila,

Thank so much for instructions on how to post pics. I will get to taking pics now. Always easier to have a visual about what you are talking about. I clicked on the image and it does bring up the pics I have managed to download to my BYC page. I will have one of the older kids show me how to upload the pics from my phone. Thanks again.

Vehve,

Coop looks good!! Girls look happy

Fancy, a holiday from laying eggs

Viiru on the right in that picture is the only one laying at the moment, those other two seem to have just begun their molt judging by the amount of feathers they keep dropping. It's not that visible on the birds themselves yet though.

Depends a bit. Usually we open the run around 8 or 9 in the morning and close it up when it gets dark. About 19 in the evening right now. Sometimes they get less yard time if no one is home.
