Check the calcium level on the bag. You really don't want to exceed 2% for Roos. If you want to consume eggs you should look for antibiotic free products but that's a whole other issue.

The pullet grower I have was leftover as I refused to feed it to my growing pulleys because of the antibiotics. I preferred my chooks to build their own immunity as oppose to giving them medicated feed. I do spend a bit of money on organic feed but they are I believe healthier

I still worm them and put acv on thier water every other day along with a good dose of garlic powder in thier mash. I laugh myself silly when I pick them up and they have garlic breath

So who exactly are you feeding the medicated feed to ? Btw antibiotics are a medication.

I gave a little bit to my welsummer roo gaston he is five weeks old I know what to give to hens just not Roos

was going to the feed store tomorrow to get something but don't really know what to get and I don't trust the people at the fodder they often just sell stuff without giving enough info

My poor girls are struggling to keep dry today, it's crazy!
But exciting news, we had kittens born lastnight!
So after bunnies, puppies and baby chicks I now give you kittens!

1 and 2 arrived within moments of each other at about 1030pm Chloe had no idea what to do as they were both still attached to her so every time she moved they dragged behind her.

I left her for a bit and when I came back number 3 had arrived. I was just thinking I hope that's it when I see

Number 5 arrived maybe 15 minutes after 4, I could still see one moving in her belly though so I knew that wasn't it,

I actually got a video of number 6's birth but I can't upload from my phone so here's a photo instead


All up there was about 2 hours between 1 and 6
This morning before the kids got up I went in and changed her bed, even the offer of food couldn't keep her from her babies long



Very proud of my girl, she's getting fixed as soon as they are weaned so this never happens again.
So... Anyone want a kitten..

Adorable photos. And a lovely and loving mum cat. .... I would love a kitten, but Queensland to Victoria is not an option - not for me anyway. I would worry myself into hospital at the thought.
Hope you find lovely homes for them - and then Mum Cat can have her operation ! .... Good luck with them all.

Check the bags for calcium content .,if it's not printed on the bag ask the staff to go on the companies product guide and find out. A mixed flock can be a little more complicated to feed. Once you have Roos in the flock you really want to keep the calcium below 2% and provide calcium carbonate on ' free take ' for the layers. Visceral gout is a very painful affliction and the unfortunate consequent of Roos being fed layer pellets over long periods of time.
