Good afternoon everyone.
Can anyone help me? I have 3 australorps, Lucky is 7 weeks old today and Aussie and Penguin are 4 weeks old. I am hatching 6 more hopefully by Saturday, I was wondering when I can put them together. They have seen each other and can hear each other, but I feel bad for Lucky who is one her own. I say her because we are hoping to have lots of girls. Haha don't like my chances but as Lucky was the only one to hatch in her batch. My grand daughters tell me I can't get rid of her. I also hatched 5 silkies 4 weeks ago, as there smaller I'm not sure if I can put them altogether any time soon. I enjoy reading about everyone's babies. Its good to see I'm not the only one who fuss's over her babies. We have 10 ISA browns, but we got them at 16 weeks. Haven't had babies for 20 years.
Thanks
Luckys mum
I found them on gumtree. Kind of local - Elimbah. Somebody has some at Kilcoy too. I've wanted the birds for years but couldn't find them. Now I've seen the eggs I'm more in love with them.
I got a friend to pick the eggs up for me and the breeder gave them to me no charge.
Thanks . I was hoping you got the interstate or posted because I've been having lots of trouble finding a Dorking breeder who will post me eggs.
Go Agnes!!! Congrats I agree on the Brizzi storm - it just made it more humid. Are you northside too. My Silkie laid every day that she was not clucky, summer and winter. To be completely honest she missed a couple of days in winter but never two in a row. Did you know dunking in water is one way to break a clucky. Are you dunking a Silkie? That could be risky.Today was the day! Agne laid her first egg, check it out! It's so little and so cute, with a nice white shell.Probably need a few to make an omelet lol. So proud of her. She was making A LOT of noise leading up to the event though, and understandably so. She's about six months now. Now I guess I'll find out just how often she'll lay. Do Silkies have seasons, or just lay whenever all year round? Myhaven I hope the rest of your hatch goes well! Gorgeous little chicky there so far
Telia, I'm with you on the heat and humidity, I've had enough. That storm last night only made things worse today. It wasn't much of a storm though. The sooner Autumn gets here, the better. I've been dunking the girls in a little cool water just before midday, and hosing the grass frequently throughout under the trees where they hangout (still off from uni for another week, hoping things'll calm down when I have to go back). It's just been a dry summer in Brissy this year.
