Fizzybelle love the pics of your fur and feathered babies

Anniebee congrats on the new kitten. Loved the photos she looks adventuress Miss Ruby sounds like Bear as soon as a coop is left open he’s in there looking for poop. He follows the girls and around when they are out free ranging he's licking their butts. Yuck!

Teila the coops looking great. I hope the time goes fast enough for you.

We aren't getting any eggs at the moment either and our coop looks like someone emptied a feather quilt in it. Our Araucana gives us an egg every once and a while. I hoping they start laying soon. Yesterday I bought some eggs for the first time in years.

My wife bought 3 dozen free range eggs for cooking as our girls couldn't keep up with demand. (We do a lot of baking for charity cake stalls AND we both bake for competition and the Sydney Royal Easter Show was coming up...)

Anyway, she asked the lady who sold the eggs if they were fertile and she said that she wasn't sure but she had s rooster. We used one dozen and every one had a bullseye on the yolk so I put the other 2 dozen in the incubator on 6th April. I planned to candle and lock down tonight but...

I was getting dinner ready and thought I could hear cheeping. I peaked into the incubator and found a chick.

So much for removing the egg turner and increasing the humidity!

How cute! I've occasionally considered trying that with local free range eggs from our iga. They are nice big eggs so thinking it's not a bad laying line. Hadn't thought of looking for bullseyes.

@LuckysMum. Sounds like my coop too. If they don't stop dropping feathers there will be some naked chooks soon

The funny thing is we have a frizzle that has been crossed with another frizzle so she had no feathers when we got her she was a few years old and we called her Rudy, now she has more feathers than some the others. We may have to change her name to Trudy.

They look gorgeous any idea what they are?

Um, they're chicks!

No idea of the parentage but my wife says that they could have become a chocolate sponge or a batch of lamingtons! We had purchased some free range eggs for baking as our girls weren't supplying enough for our needs and having noticed a bullseye on each of the yolks I "rescued" 2 dozen of the eggs and put them in an incubator. 3 chicks so far but we'll see what tomorrow brings.
